stopped smoking it has been about 7 weeks. i have gain back 10 pounds of the weight i had lost. so a little sad about this. however i started walking 4 miles a day.so hopefully that will knock off the pounds i gained back. however i still probably want make goal weight by september.but i will keep going.i sure could use some encouragement from all my sparkpeople friends. emoticon

    emoticon on stopping smoking. Now work on not snacking. Increasing exercise is great but keep some sugarless gum around so you don't reach for food when you want a cigarette. emoticon

    Quitting smoking is HUGE! It takes some mental and emotional adjusting to manage both challenges at once - food and quitting. So get your tracking in gear, even if you aren't doing so well, and do the exercise thing. The overall goal is health, right? Smoke free and slim! You can do this! Hang in there and keep positive thoughts. emoticon emoticon

    You have to think of all the good things you are doing for your body by quitting the smoking. My Dad didn't quit until he was 65, but, the doctor told him he added 15 years to his life by quitting then. He later died with lung cancer attributed to smoking. Walking 4 miles is a very definite step in the right direction. You will soon be walking more, I bet. I love walking and I would challenge you to walk when the urge for a cigarette hits. You can walk in place wherever you are. I have been using the Leslie Sansone's "Walk At Home" DVD for a workout. In it you can choose to walk 1 or up to 5 mile workkouts. I think you are doing great and the changes you're making will soon be your best motivation b/c you will be feeling so much better! emoticon emoticon

    Congratulations on quitting smoking! It is tough! I haven't had a cigarette in 7 1/2 yrs! I understand the weight gain, I gained 25 lbs so you are doing good to have only gained 10lbs. You've got this though, you are going to get rid of those 10lbs so quickly that you'll forget you even had it to get rid of! :) Hang in there!!
