Yesterday was my second week of teaching the "Turbo in the Park" workout group. I had 12 women this week, but 3 of them were new that weren't there last week. It was HOT out! Even at 9am! I encouraged frequent water breaks, telling them to grab water between each song. At the end, I was so sweaty that it was hard to even hold up in plank, I felt like my arms were sliding on the workout mat. LOL! I had us facing a different way this time. Last time, I was facing the sun directly (they were all facing away from the sun) and I felt like I was squinting the whole time. My eyes are very sensitive to the sun anyways, but I also did not have my sunglasses because I was worried that they would just fall off with all of the jumping, burpees, etc. This time, we were all facing the side of the playground, so no one was facing the sun. I found a pair of sunglasses that fit a little tighter, so I was able to wear those.
After the workout, we headed to the beach. I was starting to get a headache at that time, but I thought that maybe the water and relaxing would help. NOPE... By the time we left the beach, I had a full-blown migraine and felt nauseated and my head was THROBBING. Not sure if it was the sun, the heat, not enough water (although I drank before, during and after the workout), not enough food, being extra tired (didn't get home until pretty late from work the night before). Who knows, but it was BAD. I took 2 Excedrin Migraine when I got home and got in the shower hoping that would help. It didn't... I ended up feeling so sick that I laid in bed for about 20-30 minutes (even with wet hair from the shower) but couldn't fall asleep because of the pain/nausea... About an hour later I took 4 Motrin and a Claratin and texted my husband asking him to pray for my head since I had to lead my Made to Crave Bible study that night (which was now in just 2.5 hours). A little later, he texted back and said that he and the other pastors/staff at church just finished praying. It was actually starting to feel a little better by then, to the point where I could finish doing my hair and put some makeup on. Also ate a small snack. Folded some laundry, too, as it got better.
My older son had went home with a friend at the beach, so they were bringing him back to the church for small groups. My husband was staying at the church, and his men's Bible study was having dinner in their group. So, my youngest and I stopped at Panara for some dinner before Bible study.
Our Bible study went well. The room that we are in is PACKED! I felt a little "off my game" due to the headache (which was getting better, but still kind of there) but even so thought the night went well. We watched the videos from the Made to Crave DVD and the Made to Crave Action Plan DVDs for week 2. The Action Plan one was about the importance of fish and fiber in our diets. I had printed off some information for the ladies on the different kinds of fatty acids, fish, etc for them to take home. I picked some questions from the Participants Guide for each table to go over. I have found that people are more comfortable sharing when it's in a smaller group setting, and since we have about 35 women, it works better to let them just share together at their tables of 5-6 women. I did encourage the women to try to sit with people this time that they did not know or someone they did not sit with last week. I sat at a different table for the discussion part as well. It is nice because then I feel like I can get to know each woman better if I vary where I sit each week.
Today my family and I went to a beach that is about an hour away. The weather had a big turn from yesterday. It was cloudy and chilly! We got to the beach and the red warning flag was up, the waves were huge, and the lifeguards were not letting people go in the water at all. There were a couple girls who were in to their waists, and they made them come in to the shore. I have heard of a few deaths just this week from people at the beaches that have gotten stuck in the undercurrent. So sad! Anyways, the boys played in the sand for a little bit, I was under a towel since I was chilly, and Jon and I read for a little bit. The kids ended up getting bored since we couldn't go in the water, so we left and walked around downtown a little bit. There is a specialty dog store there, so we stopped and got our dog Monte (a boxer) a few treats. Josh picked a combo that has a "hamburger and french fries" and Adam picked one that looked like a champagne glass for Monte.
On the way home, we decided to stop at a few places we had never been. The first was a little chocolate place. Jon and the boys got some chocolate covered bacon. They liked it, I thought it was GROSS! Jon even said to keep it in mind for him for next Father's Day since they ship. Yuck, lol! Next, we stopped at a Cider Mill that serves a ton of different kinds of apple cider. They let you taste them first. We tasted the red hot cinnamon, banana, pineapple, peanut butter (that one was gross), caramel, pumpkin spice, eggnog, and 1 other that I can't remember. They give you little cups of them, but we shared those so that we could each taste. We ended up buying 4 little pints of them (they were buy 3 get 1 free) and got the pineapple, banana caramel, and red hot apple ones. The kids had a lot of fun picking out their flavors.
On the way home, Jon needed to stop and Dunhams and I saw a Goodwill that I hadn't been to before. I asked him to drop me off there while he looked in Dunhams. He was funny, he was like "Are you serious?!?" but then he did. I found some great deals! I got a Jennifer Nicole Lee DVD, the whole Beachbody Slim in 6 DVD set, and a Hip Hop Abs DVD for $2.99 each! I put them all in the DVD player to check them out, and they all work. I wanted to try the JNL one because I had seen her newest program that is $120 (looks like a cross between P90X, Turbo Fire, and Insanity) but I didn't want to pay that much without seeing how she is in her videos. This is an older one though, I think it said 2007, so it's a little different than how she is now. I was so excited though about my workout DVD finds! When I got in the car, my husband said, "You have an addiction!" (meaning to buying workout DVDs). But at least these were cheap, right? I couldn't pass them up. They might end up being a little too easy for me, but if they are they will still be good to use for my church workout group if I do one in the fall with DVDs like I did in the spring...
Tomorrow Jon is going fishing with some friends tomorrow, and I have a few things to get done... Workout (going to try one of the new ones!), groceries, and there is a neighborhood garage sale that I might check out. In the evening we're going to our friend's house for dinner, so I have to make a couple things for that. I'm making the Weight Watchers Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli, and a cherry cheesecake dip that I found on Pinterest that you dip gram crackers in. It looked pretty easy to make, but yummy.
