Today was our only chance for rain. We have not had any in quite a while. It clouds up and gets windy but no rain. We are tired of watering every day. I sure hope we can squeeze some out before the day is over.

I am sleeping okay but I'm still tired all the time - and, no, it isn't depression, it's from pure exhaustion.

I seem to be less stressed today. It helps when I know I will be able to stay home.

I can't get anyone to help me keep the hummer feeders full so I cleaned them and filled them again today. The hummers are really keeping them drained this year. I am going through a lot of sugar.

The bird bath is very popular today. For years lots of birds and squirrels have gotten a drink from the bird bath but hardly anyone was really into bathing in it with one exception. Every day at the same time for a few years a titmouse comes and takes a bath. Not sure if it is male or female or if it is even the same bird but we think of it as Mr. or Mrs. Clean. Mr. and Mrs. Clean had babies this year. Today the family took turns taking baths. They were wild - really into it. This didn't go unnoticed. A female cardinal sat and watched them and decided to try it out. She liked it. Next was Wrenster. He is really nosey anyway. He was followed by a dove. And finally a chick-a-dee. It's nice to see it getting all of this action. Later a nuthatch, goldfinch, and warbler came in.

There were two turtles in the compost pile eating a cauliflower core. I had no idea they liked them.

Split Ear, one of our favorite squirrels, showed up and has a ton of ticks on her ears. I wish I could get them off.

Be so careful. I have pushed myself for 11 months with a daughter and three grandkids moving in. They were 4,2, and newborn. I was chasing her down one day to give her her cellphone and had a wreck in my precious car. Luckily it was easily fixed but I told her and myself --- I am slowing down, I am taking a nap when I need to. I will not chase her down again -- her problems are her responsibility.

We just got through settling up a messy estate too -- it all takes a toll. We are older and don't need to be running and worrying all the time. My dad took care of his parents and died at 65 -- his dad lived three years longer at 90. Caretaking is hard work.

Take care.

Your birdbath sounds like a local pub for the woodland creatures.

Hi "M" today we were committed to a walk with our Wednesday walkers. I had suggested we do the next part of the trail. More hills and it was an early and nice walk but the temps rose quicker than most days so we all were ready for hydration. None of us wanted to eat anything.
I cam home and felt like a zombie. I sat at the computer and my head was so heavy I went to the bed and slept for 3 hours. I have been busy in the yard and loved it but this was the first nap I can remember. I am feeling better but keep thin king I lost 2 hours. I know it has helped . HUGS take care. I feel sure you do use vitamin supplements. I do B complex. Cam MG and ZN and Co-enzyme Q 10. That has been used by DH and I for years , recently it is getting in to everything. HUGS . I hope you have rain Pat in maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like your house is a nice place to watch wildlife. Turtles in the compost pile! How neat! All I get in mine are raccoons. =P

You have a great deal of wild life to watch. I wish Mr. Split Ear would let you help him. That can't be very comfortable for him.

I know not everyone is the same, but I wanted to share with you that I was constantly feeling exhausted, like no amount of sleep would be enough. I started taking a multi-vitamin that has some B vitamins in it and I cannot believe how much better I feel. Just a thought... I know it's no fun feeling tired all the time. Stress really takes its toll on me so finally feeling better is such a blessing. I hope you will find something too.

Enjoy your menagerie!

What fun! We've got a pair of cardinals and a woodpecker who eat at our feeder regularly. The woodpecker is a hoot to watch, as a feeder isn't normal for him.

I can relate to your exhaustion, even though I don't do nearly what you do every day. I'm flattened, fighting a cold. I even went back to bed this morning instead of doing my morning routine! Guess I needed a total rest day. I have, indeed, been pushing myself pretty hard lately. My daily to-do list, even without extras like weeding and cleaning, felt completely daunting this morning, so I opted out of it.

Speaking of opting out, FPL (Florida Power & Light, for which I've devised a creative new name) has, in the last two days, sent two thugs in unmarked cars to try to install a smart meter here. We refused the first time, and the guy grumbled, "You're gonna have it sooner or later." Then another guy shows up this morning at 8:25, pounding like the Gestapo on our door and suggesting that HE can install the smart meter. I've posted a large sign on our meter, declining their services, and took its picture, in case they sneak one in there while we're out. These guys don't know who they're dealing with.

Power to the People! Kumbaya and all that!

Our finches have been hungry lately. The storms have kept them from the feeder, but they are back as soon as the clouds part. Our kitty likes to 'welcome' them whenever they stop by (kitty chatter is so funny to hear).

Poor squirrel! The ticks around here are way too abundant this year!! They are everywhere!! I hate them--they're disgusting critters. Hope you get some rest!!

I have the same problem with our hummingbird feeders when the woodpeckers are into them. And then the bees found them and I really had a problem! It is hot here too, and it's fun to watch the birds taking baths in our fountain. Even the hummers partake.

That must have been so calming to watch the birds at the bath. I love bird watching. Poor Split Ear. Those ticks are nasty little suckers.

    Hi Tish dear...
Loved your blog about your birds and animals .
Liquid paraffin should kill the ticks if you could get close enough to spray your Squirrels ear ..
I used that on my wild wombats .... they didn't like the spray much but it did kill the ticks ...
Sounds like you are also animal orientated as I am.. I have had lots of wild animals in my day including a Joey who lost its mother in a car accident ..
I also had blue tongue lizards that used to show up at the kitchen door to be fed dog food ..
I hope you can get a good rest really soon ..
Much Love Susie emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sure hope you got some cooling rain before the day was over. We are supposed to get our thunderstorms tomorrow bringing us relief from all the heat and humidity. YEAH!!! We need it. I understand why your birth bath is the popular place to hang out. How would you ever catch a squirrel to take those ticks off??? Have a great Friday and get some wonderful restful sleep tonight.

It's too bad there isn't a duster or something the squirrel could use, like the cattle. We have lots of critters here and we love to watch them.

Love to hear your animal stories. I adore birds. I see them all day long. Love listening to them sing. I took a picture of the sunset tonight. Maybe I can post it tomorrow. I have to download it. But, I am going to hit the hay soon. Just love the birdbath story. So nice you have turtles around. I haven't seen a real live one her in some time. They like water. Glad to see they're into the cauliflower. Yummy, I love it, too. Have been craving fresh cauliflower and broccoli lately. Can't wait to get some. Yay! So, I am glad to read your blog tonight. Take good care and take really good care of yourself. Lots of love and hugs, Karen

Awww poor squirrel with ticks! The ticks down there are relentless! It rained here today for like 30 minutes. Then got hot as hell again. I happen to lock my keys in my car for the whole rain storm and was not able to run in it. BLAH!
