Invariably, I have anxiety about my "public nakedness" that first time out in summer. However, when I look around, I am relieved to see normal, healthy, everyday people in the same state of undress. No supermodels in sight.
I am always especially grateful to full figured women rocking bikinis. And really fat guys without shirts.
Keep this in mind when you're contemplating public swimming: not everyone is skinny. In fact, only a few are. Nobody looks anything like what you were looking at in the swimsuit catalog, when you chose your suit. They all look like the regular ol' people you see in the grocery store and the gas station.
So, I enjoy myself after all. Everyone there was doing the same as me... trying to enjoy life and keep cool, not scrutinize anyone's body.
As soon as I got home, I bought a new 2-piece.
