So, I thought summer might be, you know, relaxing with lots of time.
Not so much.
I actually have a lot to do! Don't get me wrong, it's better, waaay better than the school year, but it's still pretty busy. Now, I like being busy. I'm terrible when I have nothing to do. I don't know the meaning of "relax" unless it is coupled with a specific activity.
Now, don't imagine that I'm crazy stressed out. I've been "relaxing" a lot this summer. I've done a lot of running, walking, and hitting the gym, and I love it. I've gotten to do a lot of reading and catching up on the internet as well.
Still, I think there's more on my summer to-do list than summer left. It happens.
One of the things on my summer to-do list was to blog here again, because my last blog was ... in March. That tells you how my life went.
Quick notes first:
Exercise: freakin' amazing, I have a gym again, I'm lifting heavy things, I'm running a lot, and I have a 5K in 2 weeks and a 10 mile in 14 weeks, and I'm crazy ready
Food: could be better, but I'm getting there. I'm finally learning to stop eating in certain situations before I've had too much, so that's good, because I was always the type to eat until I was nearly sick without even realizing it was happening. However, I still eat too many calories in things I need to limit like chocolate and peanut butter. Both good for me, in smaller portions than I eat. However, I've discovered smoothies with farm-fresh fruits and veggies and I'm ADDICTED and I love them. Yes, kale can go with strawberries.
Music: best part of summer! I found a place to karaoke that I like, it's cute, tiny, and I've had two separate guys buy me a drink. I've also reignited my songwriting, which is so much fun to do again, and I actually have some time for it.
Sleep: gotta get this under control. I tend to stay in bed too long, which doesn't make me feel any more rested, but I'm just a bum. I've tried a few things that haven't worked with this so far and will take suggestions. My newest idea is to have a project I enjoy (like writing music) planned to work on in the morning that I have to get up to do. We'll see how it goes.
Other: I'm doing a lot of prep for fall, and I'm hoping it makes fall less stressful, but I'll have even more going on, so who knows. I love it all though, so, I'm cool being crazy.
Okay. One goal down, more to go.
For my semi-geeky/dorky friends: I have a new podcast for you by buddies of mine from high school on various topics. Check it out:

The title is a great song from Jonathan Coulton which always reminds me of my life, minus the drugs.
