I am SO ready to go to the beach. I am bummed we can only stay 3 days but I refuse to focus on that or anything else negative during this trip (long story..I am in a wedding).
So yesterday something really crazy happened...I found a swimsuit that I actually feel comfortable wearing in public. This may not seem like a big deal but I have avoided pools (which I LOVE) since I was in high school because I am so self conscious in a bikini. And back in high school, I was 110 lbs! SO much pressure at that age. I got my first one piece. I am so happy they came back into style! Its a very retro..pinup girl inspired type and its figure flattering :). I tried it on for my "pseudo hubby" and his jaw dropped! I don't deserve this man :). Anyway, I can't believe how much more comfortable I feel and I am sooooo excited for the summer now!
I don't look too good in the bridesmaid's dress but I won't complain because the other two weddings I was in had stunning dresses. This dress isn't ugly but it isn't flattering at all. That's ok, I got some hot shoes for it ;).
I also got a fake tan since the rest of the wedding party looks like they sleep in tanning beds. As much as I am fine with being pale, I'll admit, I do feel a little more comfortable with some color at the beach. Not because I think it looks better, but because for some reason people think they can just go up to you and say "Wow you are pastey, you need to lay out for a while".
People I've just met have said that to me. Pale skin use to be considered beautiful... I don't know why its something to be ashamed of now. I am not..but it doesn't feel good when people say that stuff. I have already heard it several times this year.
When I get back, I am heading to the grocery store and I am going to tweak my diet a little more. A fellow member on here recommended a book and it supports the way I eat (whole foods) but I don't think I am getting enough veggies. Actually, I may just stop at those fruit and veggie vendors on the side of the road on the way home :). Man I can't wait to get some peaches!!!!!
