So what is Zumba, many of you know some do not so I will tell you. Zumba is a dance class that does wonders for weight loss. It is extremely easy on knees and backs for those of us carrying a lot of extra weight that make traditional exercise very very painful.
Six months ago I FORCED myself to go to one class. My self esteem was low and I was very fragile. The instructor ( a very small gorgeous blond) was fantastic she ran the class in a very fun easy going way. After that first class in which I was barely able to walk in place for the 45 minutes my instructor came up to me and told me how great she thought I did. It meant a lot that this perfect body lady told me, a huge blob I did well. So I went back the next week.
I am not going to say it was easy. I am still two left footed but the important thing is I go and have fun and sweat buckets. After one month I was hooked on the great feeling I got when I would make it through another class. I then starting going twice a week and I bought Zumba game for my kids Xbox (which I do 3 times a week). That other great thing I have noticed is you get a great all over body workout and it really shappes your body. I now have a waist and then hips not just a combined spare tire.
Now six months later I have a whole new group of friends that I get to play with at Zumba. It's a real pick me up after a bad day to walk into a gym and have lots of people call out a welcome.
So Zumba for me was a life changing experience. It took a fragile, scared woman that had locked herself in her house back into the social butterfly I love to be.
My biggest tip is try new things because just because you have told yourself you don't like something doesn't make it true. For years I have said I hate to dance. Now I am a Zumbafantic.
