Last day with the junipers and they are how I wanted them to look. WooHoo!!.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

I honestly would have preferred to have tended the junipers for 30 years but hind sight is 20/20 and i wear glasses.
SO when I started the little garden, it grew and grew on both of us. Then it was my mothers garden since she planted the blue spruce yars ago, and still it grew.
We had a little birds nest in the Junipers and I appreciated how useful they were for the birds. The egg was taken from the nest and the little mother flew away. (I like to think she is still flying around and not in something Else's belly)

Now I would not be disturbing the abandoned nest so I started to plant more flowers in there.
The overgrown Junipers were always scratching my arms I wore long sleeved shirts and was able to get many small branches off but it took lots of effort and time But I enjoyed the exercise I was never bored. I get bored very easily and It is hard for me to sit still. This has been a great project for me and DH has backed me all the way. I suggested today he stayed in doors after our walk we are thinking he has to get checked out tomorrow, his ribs are still hurting. The hip has improved. I would prefer he has an Xray-me being a Radiographer I love X-rays.
Now the four remaining trunks look like I wanted them to. Nothing landscape wonderful but they look the way I envisioned them and we saved a lot of money by doing it ourselves. We never had any to spend in the first place. So it was a WIN-WIN, aka WORK-WORK,aka a HAPPY-HAPPY project for me.

Lots of outdoor exercise and ST all in one. The last dump trip will be tomorrow and I am hoping to catch some plant sales to add even more perennials for next year. By doing this our yard looks so much bigger. DH and I both think it is an upgrade if we ever want to sell it.

We walked early today I did 5 miles on the trail. In the café we all discussed our bucket list. We are going to take a boat ride to Burnt Island off the Maine coast and go to some very special gardens and there is an artist colony to see. I am NOT a boat person but DH wants to go and so do my friends so i will do my stiff upper lip and go along for the fun. My friends all agree if my grands are here we will all be going. They have met the kids and were happy to include them. I made sure they wanted the kids to come along.
I wrote the blog earlier than usual so I can go to bed earlier. DH may end up in the RV in the driveway with the A/C running.

Alas we have no pool so the kids will be disappointed. The pool guys are busy with this heat wave so our repair is a low priority. I would love to take the kids places. They rarely get to go very far and that is what summer is all about. They have come to Maine and learned to swim in the pool as babies. I am looking in to other places to go.     That was a big job on those junipers. My husband cut ours back this year too.

I hope your hubby is better soon. He took quite a spill.

I have never made a bucket list. I'm not sure what would be on it.

I hope they will get to the pool soon.

Sorry that your pool isn't considered high priority, that stinks. With the heat wave this week I'm sure glad to be able to swim. We also have the AC to help us through it. I don't even want to see the electric bill next week!!
Good luck finding things for you and the GK's to do. What a great Grandma you are Pat!!

So happy about your trees and garden!! That has been an unbelievable amount of work for you!! Would love some pictures if you get a chance. Has the pool guy looked at the pool yet to tell you what needs to be done? Do you have a time set for the grandkids to visit? I know how you enjoy that! It's a scorcher here again today and I have a few errands to run. UGH!

Hi Pat, It sounds like you have been so busy with your landscaping project! wow - I'm sure it looks lovely and it really is hard work, isn't it? Miss you lots. I have 1 1/2 weeks of work left and then it is summer holidays. I will have more time to focus on "me" and SparkPeople then.
