registered for fall semester & the books 4 the sem. aren't cheap

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

I registered for fall semester and my books to over $400. Yikes! I am not sure what to say. I also joined a couple groups for Fibromyalgia support. Hoping this will help my coping with the news. I have to finish my workout and study more. So going to close.

DO THEY NOT HAVE A USED BOOK LOCATION WHERE YOU GO TO SCHOOL? IT SAVED ME A BUNDLE! YOU'RE RIGHT, THOSE BOOKS AREN'T CHEAP. SORRY ABOUT THE FIBRO. I HAVE IT TOO AND IT IS NO PICNIC. YOU WILL SOON BECOME A HUMAN BAROMETER.

Oh goodness! I can see why some courses are going the e-book route... it's so hard to stay current with technical progress that revisions are inevitable...

Definitely shop around for books. Amazon and Barnes & Noble sometimes have them, but also look on eBay! Or just do a Google search for the book. But be careful about editions, sometimes it will be an older edition of the book.

My daughter is in college and her grandmother gives her about $300-$400 for books. She has learned to shop around. She also buys used books. She has also re-sold the books just to get back a little bit of money. She has even rented books.

It really blows my mind how expensive college text books have become. When I went to college many years ago new text books cost between $25-$65 and rarely over $100.00. I have four children attending college now and when I see that a lot of their books are between $125.00 -$275.00, and that some cost more I thank God that they are taking some of the same classes were they can use each others books. I am also thankful for USED books.

Hope your fall classes go well for you.
