Being sick is no fun

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

So I took my rest from exercise which I think helped, got back to it, and then I got sick--for the first time in over 6 years. I have no idea where it came from, but I had a low grade fever, congestion, headache, and a sore throat. It started Thursday night and today, Wednesday, I finally feel somewhat normal.

I have not done any exercise since last Thursday and I am a little apprehensive abut going tomorrow. I plan to just use the elliptical at a completely easy pace and when I feel tired, stopping.

My pedometer tells the tale--last week I had a couple of days with 18000 and 12000 steps and then since Friday, between 1500 and 1000 steps. Practically inert!

I think making sure that you are well before exercising is just what you need to do. Exercising at an easy pace is sensible too. After all, if you push too hard, too soon it will probably just take longer to get better.

Listen to your body and do what you can to recover quickly/completely.

Take it easy & feel better soon. I was sick last Fri night - had already gotten most of my steps in from work that morning (off @ 8A) and walking the pups. Sat, I got just over 1000 steps - never a good sign to see how slothful I can be. emoticon

Good job taking care of yourself and resting - sort of. (Great cats, by the way.)
