first day

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

well, here we go on my first day. As a military spouse, I move regularly and this makes it difficult to form supportive friendships/workout groups so I'll try this online group and then I can just take you all with me!
As a former athlete and veteran, I am confused about this heavy, weak woman that looks back at me in the mirror. I have all the usual reasons for wanting to lose weight... Horrible family history of diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure, cholesterol, cancer, depression, anxiety...... In my head all of those read as.... obesity.. I am also a Mom and wife and want to be more active for my family and the fun that comes with getting off the couch. I want all of these things but for me, on the inside, the woman that lives under the fat.... I just miss being strong. and fearless. I was a farm girl and a soldier. I could do anything. How did I get here? bed rest, putting me last, eating to feel better... eating to punish myself, eating to punish others... giving up, making excuses. being afraid.
All that got me here but I am tired of all those things and I just want to find my way back to the strong woman that is still there if I just find faith in her again.
Here's to my journey.....

Welcome! Congratulations on making that first step. Take some time to get to know your SparkTeams and make some friends while you assess where you are and what changes need to be made. As a fellow military spouse, I'm pulling for you! You CAN do this, one step at a time!

Happy First Day!! This is a great place for support & motivation. emoticon Start by taking small steps, making small changes, & grow with it. Consistency is the key. And I do not think it will take long until that inner athlete comes out like a roaring lion, & you transform your entire lifestyle and health.

Hope you have a wonderful Day #2!

Your journey is not something to be resigned to, but to be looked upon as adventure, hope, and living fully. I hope you find your faith in yourself. It's so important to acknowledge first and foremost that this is about YOU, because YOU are worth taking care of, loving, doing right by.

Start small. You didn't get where you are overnight and jumping in feet first is just going to overwhelm you eventually. Make a few small changes and when you have those down, add in a few more. We are here for you and want to see you succeed. We are in this together!
