Stuck in a Rut

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Well, I was doing so well a couple of months ago -- exercising consistently and eating well, and then all the stress set in. Too much detail to go into here, but I'm going through a bunch of change in my life right now (nothing BAD, exactly), and it's kinda driving me crazy. So I've been eating sweets (all kinds, especially cookies and ice cream) as a source of comfort, and we all know how well THAT works... And once I start, it's much harder to stop. Then my clothes start getting tighter again... Ugh. I wish I'd learn a better way of coping with stress. Exercise just doesn't help enough, even when I'm doing it regularly. If I had time for a yoga class, I'd try that, but I don't.

Sorry to hear your stressful life is getting in the way of your fitness goals. I understand perfectly and have gone through this same thing myself countless times, the ice cream and sweets were all I craved. This time I hope the inspiration I get from this site will help me stay out of ruts, or at least help me get out of a rut quicker. Just don't get down on yourself for this. You have a positive attitude and that is half the battle right there!

It's no fun being under stress. Don't beat yourself up because you're eating a couple extra cookies and ice cream. What you might try doing is getting some Skinny Cow products. Have you tried Skinny Cow ? Their ice cream is really good AND they have portion controlled snacks. If you feel an urge for ice cream, bypass the Ben and Jerry's in favor of the Skinny Cow. You'll still get to enjoy the ice cream without the extra guilt of the calories.

I'm sorry you are under such stress...

Take good care of yourself!
I know it's not easy when you don't have time, but you could try getting enough sleep. A stressful situation is easier to face if you had your 8 hours of sleep.
Another thing is focusing on eating fruits and vegetables, and to do some fun exercise every day.
None of these will create a calorie deficit, but help you feel better, and maybe get you outside the rut.

Have you tried purchasing a yoga dvd and doing the yoga at home?
