Skinny rules

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I bought Bob Harper's Skinny Rules book yesterday. Going to try following it for a couple of weeks and see how it is. His "rules" sound like good common sense and it is nice to just have a list of things to do.

So Rule 1 is to drink a glass of water before every meal, no exceptions. I can do that. I went to the grocery store and bought lots of fruit to eat yesterday for snacks to replace junky (the large bag of tostitos I polished off over the course of several days) or carby snacks. I did buy some Weight Watchers entrees because a lot of times it is just easier for me to heat one up instead of figuring out how much to eat of what. So the plan for now is to have a WW entree and veggies for each meal and fruit for snacks, alongside plenty of water, while I am working on reading this book

I am feeling some renewed motivation. Weighed myself today. Weight is good 176.5 despite the tostitos and other junky snacks this week. So I haven't gained any.

Got off track with the nutrition tracking for a few days. I was stressed out by packing my son's stuff for weeklong camp. Packing is always a big challenge for me. I don't know why I have such a hard time with it.

I am on my own this week til Thursday and have to be disciplined to get things accomplished that I want to do. Organize the office paperwork mess and my closet!!!

Now to get off the computer, go eat breakfast and get my lazy evil twin to the Y...

Every little change will add up. I recently re-committed to a higher water intake. It does make a difference.

Getting rid of bad snacks was one of several important things I had to do to lose weight. I started popping cherry tomatoes instead of oatmeal cookes, and that made a BIG difference.

Hadn't heard of that book, but hope it helps you. Good work on replacing the junk with healthy options. I often eat Healthy Choice entrees for my lunches. I try to get those instead of lean cuisine or weight watchers because they are usually a little lower in sodium, and I have high blood pressure to consider.

I have some packing to do soon myself, for a trip to San Francisco (YAY! CAN'T WAIT) so I have made myself a list of what I need to take and where it needs to be packed (suitcase vs. carry on) and since I'm flying, made sure to note which items will need to go in my little ziploc baggie for getting thru security. I have to have a list or I get stressed out about possibly forgetting something.

Hope you have a productive week! emoticon
