Fresh Garden Picks

Monday, June 18, 2012

Some of the kohlrabi were ready to be pulled. I also found
several small beets and radishes. Tomorrow I will pick the
spinach, cut the lettuce and check the zucchini one more
time. They grow so fast. I also spied 4 heads of broccoli
that are almost ready. Pure delight!
We had broccoli with cheese tonight, along with a small
pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy. The boys are
well and there was just enough leftover for DS1 to take
home for lunch.
The summer heat is here and rain is hard to find. Maybe
tomorrow will be a little cooler. Time will tell.
Have a terrific Tuesday and thanks for stopping by.
Hugs!

Oooh!! My DH loves kohlrabi!! I have planted only a few for him just to see if I can grow them. Last year's crop was a miserable failure, but I know there was not enough sun. It's in a sunnier spot now, so here's hoping! Sounds like a heavenly fresh dinner y'all had!! Yay!!
We are pretty hot here, too and rainless. Hoping that changes soon.
Hope you're having a super day! emoticon

emoticon I love fresh veggies from the garden!!! I sure didn't like all that work as a child, but so glad that I did it. It is amazing all that I remembered when I wanted my own garden!!! My dad was a very smart man!!!
WAY TO GO on living your life!!!

Yummy yum yum! NOTHING is better than just picked produce out of your own soil! I remember growing up and our meal would be whatever came out of the garden. My daddy was a great gardener...one of my all time fans was my mother's 'wilted butter leaf lettuce...JUST loved that! And another was new potatoes and fresh green beans. No wonder I was a bean pole as a child and into my adult years...there is NOTHING more healthy or MORE delicious than garden fare!

I love reading all about your produce and your lifestyle..sigh...to have that now would my idea of heaven! emoticon emoticon

I used to love getting fresh veggies from the garden everything tastes so much better, I don't have a garden here the soil quality is awful(sand) and if you raise it everything eats it , I do have a vine tomato on the porch though. Have a great day!

I wish I had a spot here for a garden. I used to have a huge one and I really miss it. That is one thing I want in my new home, a garden spot.
