Father's Day 2012

Yesterday we got a pickup-truck load of pine logs, cut to length, but they will need to be split. Our neighbor gave us three yard waste bags of tree limbs which he had snapped to fit in the bags, so they will easily fit into our stove.
We are trying to make a decision about the pool, whether to keep it or take it down. While we were gone to our daughter's wedding, someone tried to break into my husband's truck, there are marks on the base of the passenger's side window. When we came home and took the winter cover off of the pool, there were two holes in the liner like someone had cut a piece out of it. I priced liners on the internet and we are looking at over $700 and that does not include installation or any other work the pool may need.
Since the Veteran's Administration said they aren't going to take back the money we saved but will cut the amount of my husband's check in the future, we can use that to fix the pool and it is supposed to get hot here this week. We need a new winter cover, solar cover, liner and possibly a cove (goes under the liner), and will have to pay to haul the junk to the dump. We will have to hire a pool contractor to do the work if that is the decision we make and if we decide to get rid of the pool, we need someone to remove it and one part of our deck would not have a rail on it.
Yesterday, I got a free roll of Sparkle paper towels, a free 12-pack of Smart Sense pop and a free dianthus plant with online coupons I printed from KMart. I will also get rewards from them for the money spent there. I bought a watch, my watch band tore in two on our trip and my husband bought antiperspirant for himself. We had to go by KMart to go to his brother's to borrow their gasoline powered lawn mower since it has been so wet here. We have an electric one, but can't use it if the grass is wet.
Hubby came in tonight with a lot of laundry from my Mom and I have sorted that and have begun doing laundry.
My son's girlfriend, they broke up since the trip, came by yesterday with 3 McDonald's smoothies for us and gave my husband a gift card for Red Lobster. He decided he didn't want to go there today due to the Father's Day crowds at restaurants.
With all of the wood that needs split, I hope to work in the cool mornings splitting logs and working on my flowerbeds. I put off a lot of things before the wedding so I wouldn't have extra laundry and clean up from splitting of the wood. The fellow that we got the wood from, lives about and hour away (one way) and advertised it on Craigslist. He is going to cut more trees and said he would deliver it right to our door. He is anxious to get an area cleared and had 6 or 7 truckloads to give away, but my husband's truck wasn't available when the air-conditioning was out. It suddenly began working one Sunday coming home from church and we haven't had any trouble with it since then.
I helped some with the wood yesterday. Most of the logs were too heavy for me to lift from the tailgate of the truck into the wheelbarrow, so my husband did it all and I put down pallets and moved some logs around to fill in the pallets of logs he stacked. It would be nice to jump into the pool after working on wood splitting, but it would probably be a lot less inexpensive just to get rid of the thing. If someone cut this liner, which we don't know it was cut or if it tore, there would be the likelihood of other damage to our property.
The neighbor said he watched a guy on a bike go into a neighbor's yard on the street in back of us and he left the bike there, so it was probably a stolen bike. I don't know if he reported it or if he contacted the neighbor. I tried to call the police non-emergency number to ask for a patrol around our neighborhood while we were gone and the woman that answered, hung up on me. So I guess we have to be our own neighborhood watch.
I don't know when we will hear about what our house was appraised for or if we are going to be refinanced for a lower interest rate on our mortgage. I have more appointments to make to get the Spring cleaning of our wood stove done and I need to find a reputable contractor to give us an estimate on windows and gutters. Our basement was damp on one side of the house because the gutters have water overflowing them in heavy rains. I think the clips that hold the gutters are broken and they sag under the weight of the rain and then overflow.
I know my husband's back was hurting him this morning and maybe his hip. I want to get busy on the wood and have it ready to be hauled in this fall as we need it. I will burn lots of calories doing that.
