Felt like blogging (and a healthy recipe)

It is Monday in the beautiful land of Oz...have I mentioned how very much I love it here and the wonderful man I am blessed to have found??? If not I do, very much!!!!
This weekend was wonderful..from Friday afternoon til he left for work this morning we were side by side. Finished painting our kitchen Friday night, Saturday slept in a little since we didn't have to go to a Footy game then did BodyPump (I love having him workout with me, he is a novice but determined to work though it all) went out for a mid morning snack then to see a game of netball. (I am adjusting to sports in AUS, the 2 most famous ones are pretty much found ONLY in Aus) Sunday we lay in bed til around 9 (late for us) did our computer stuff and then off for more errands..I love doing errands together. We are slowly but surely getting things for the house (renting right now til I know I am allowed to stay here for good) and grocery shopping for healthy foods.
This week my stepson (one of the 2 boys he has) is staying with us to do workstudy with his dad, so I had to go ahead and plan the week of meals. I am going to make some SP recipe's this week as well as some I found on a blog that was linked to one of the recipe's on here, he won't know they are low fat..but since he is an athlete I know he won't mind..(but he is more 16 year old boy than athlete, so there are some sweets and soda in the house, JUST IN CASE)
My sweetie helped me find a rowing machine..we were looking in a sporting goods store and I saw one for sale...reminded me how much I had wanted one, I think they are one of the best overall fitness machines you can have (along with an elliptical). I didn't get that one but it weighed on my mind all day..we decided to go online and see what we could find. We looked and looked and found a few options..decided to look at Cash Converters, nothing...ended up finding a decent one, brand new, half the price of the one I saw at the store, and ordered it yesterday to add to my fitness studio. I am a little impatient..but realistic...If I had rushed and bought the one I saw I would have spent 120 dollars more than I really needed too...so I will wait the 3-5 days of shipping it will take for my rower to arrive and get set up.
Each week I am feeling stronger and moving ahead on the road to fitness and health. The one thing I am disappointed in is I bought natural peanut butter yesterday...Have used it for years at home, usually from a Whole Foods or Trader Joes etc...used it this morning and compared it to the regular peanut butter he uses and his has less calories...not fair! Though I know the natural is better, no added sugars etc..it is not fair it has more calories in it :( I will overlook that though and know I am cutting out sugar.
So it is 9:30 and I need to go get my groove on...was supposed to be a beach run day but it was raining earlier and is cloudy so looks like a bike day, or maybe some zumba...


Before I go I did want to leave you all with this healthy brekky or snack idea..it is so versatile so everyone can mix and match but contains protein, grains and fruits..it has it all!!!!!!
This should be made up ahead of time so the grains have time to soften:

Yogurt (I usually use a FF or Light Vanilla, Greek or Regular)
Add Muesli (make sure it is all natural) or granola (again all natural) or raw uncooked oats (oatmeal)
any kind of berry or fruit..I like to use berries but any fruit can be used..if you don't have fresh available Frozen is great to use too as long as it is flash frozen and no sugar added
to this you can also add some ground flaxseed for extra fiber etc...
and if the yogurt is too thick or you like a lot of the grain you can add a little soy milk or light milk to thin it down a little

I like to make up a bowl of this ahead of time (I usually only make up enough for 2 days as it can get kind of yucky if it sits too long)
Can be used for a great nutritional breakfast or snack. I would not eat it before a workout as dairy before a workout is a huge no no but after one would be great because it has everything you need!!!!

    I haven't done the calories Sandy as it is a mix as you please kind of thing..it all depends on the yogurt used and how much of the grains one puts in, but ultimately it comes down to the kind of yogurt.

Love the sound of the recipe - do you work out the calories in this per serve?

    That yogurt mix sounds good. I love my yogurt! Sounds like you have been busy! And great you are steadily doing more with the exercise! Good for you!!
We used to have a rowing machine-sold it when we moved. It is a good workout!!

    Thanks Jenye, I do love it here.
Winters are not as cold as back in America..even though I lived in SC and we had some warm ones, still is nicer here :) No ice or snow, at least not in SA!

    Footy (football) is kind of a cross between soccer and American Football with maybe a hint of Rugby thrown in. It is very exciting to watch. The ball is almost the same as our football, but they run constantly like soccer, can kick it and catch it but once caught can only run so many steps before they have to kick it. I am still learning but I do love it..(never like American football, but always loved Soccer!!)
BTW, did you do your jumprope today? I tried and was not very successful :( I think I need a better rope than what I have, I had my weighted one packed to bring over here but I got down to the wire on poundage and it had to go..
