Loose Skin and other artifacts

Someone asked me if I had loose skin after losing weight. The answer is yes. The areas that are the worst are my sagging bosom, stomach, inner thighs, lower back and upper arms. This is the "postcard" from my 3 decade trip through obesity. I still have a long way to go so I know this will only sag more. Fortunately, my clothing camouflages most of this. Well made undergarments help provide shape as well.

The reason I bring this up at all (other than to answer those of you that sparkmailed and asked) is to make this point. While some things are NOT reversible with diet and exercise MANY are!

First - I FEEL better. You know what I'm talking about. No longer do I huff, puff and drag my body up stairs. I can stand in a line at the store without grinding pain in my legs and back. I can walk two miles!

I'm off the Blood Pressure Meds! I had a wonderful 115/68 blood pressure this morning. This means I don't have all those negative side effects of the meds. My cholesterol and triglycerides are NORMAL! They are better than many of my skinny friends!

My skin is clearer. Yes even 56 year olds can have breakouts but my new diet/fitness regimen has left me with healthier skin.

My digestive system has returned to normal. I know this is something people don't often speak about but trust me - IT MATTERS!

I have never had blood sugar issues but I do think if I had that would have benefited too so I mention it here only for those that might be in that situation now. I do believe you will only see improvement with weight loss and diet changes.

Sleep - As the weight comes off my sleep gets better and better. Sleep is so important in our overall health.

Confidence - I know that I CAN do this because I HAVE. That gives me more confidence to push on (remember my perseverance blog yesterday?) Success breeds success.

Now given that LONG list of benefits and reversed health issues do you see why I'm NOT hung up about the loose skin? In a small way, as I shower and dress each morning it's a reminder to me of where I was and where I NEVER want to be again.
