Do we read signs?

Road Sign

A priest and a minister are standing by the road, pounding a sign into the ground. The sign reads:

"The End is Near! Turn Yourself Around Now Before It's Too Late!"

A car speeds past them, the driver yelling, "Leave us alone, you religious nuts!"

There is the sound of screeching tires followed by a big splash.

The priest turns to the minister & asks, "Do you think the sign should just say 'Bridge Out'"?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~

This can be our lesson for today. How do we interpret a sign? Are we paying attention to the real meaning of words? So can you turn yourself around before it is too late?
I really had to laugh when I first read this joke but then the end did come and I began to "think" about what was written. Where am I heading today? Am I going down the road to health or am I falling. It is a question to ponder. I can't give you an answer right now because I am not sure in which direction I am heading but I sure do hope it isn't into the river!!
Have a wonderful Sunday! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Food for thought...the good kind of food, at that! Life is busy and crazy sometimes and I have to force myself to slow down. It's much more enjoyable that way for me, too. Love, Jeannie

    Sadly, I agree with GOLFGMA. I feel like a chicken with its head cut off most days -- and I don't even have children! -- and highly doubt I am ever still enough to receive most signs. I feel like I've been trying to slow down for years, but things just keep getting faster and faster.

Thanks for the laugh but also for the good reminder!

I like to think that I am following a better lifestyle than I was previously, just hope it is not too late to make a difference! I truely believe the food pyramid should be based on Fruits and vegetables and not grains...........Plus, exercise is so Good for us! emoticon

    I 'm not sure people pay attention to signs anymore. We are traveling so fast anymore running here and there trying to keep up with work, family functions such as ball games, dance lessons, practice sessions , etc that we don't take the time to read signs of any kind. In previous years if we had read the signs maybe our country wouldn't be in such an economic state as it is today. The joke is cute and but really hits the reality of our lives. Thanks for the laugh and for making us think! emoticon

    emoticon Cute joke! As to the question pondered, I think we forget about the big picture as we get busy with the day to day happenings. We should ask ourselves what direction we'd like to go and then strive to go there. If it is to being healthier, we can choose one small thing to change at a time (in our habits....whether it be eating habits, or fitness habits). Once we've mastered the one small thing, we can move on to another habit....either to add or delete. Sometimes I get caught up in the here and now, and the silly craving that I don't want to forget about.......
