Please Don't Drink and Drive.

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Yesterday afternoon someone drove up onto the sidewalk in front of my office and hit two of our plant workers who were on their break. I don't know for a fact that he was drunk, but based on the evidence so far I would say he probably was. When we left work yesterday we had no idea if our coworkers will be alright. All that we knew is that they were both taken by ambulance to the hospital. I didn't go outside to see the wreck. I don't handle trauma well. My heart is broken for the people who are injured, for their friends, family and close coworkers. It makes me so angry to think that one man's selfish act can hurt so many.

Sorry to be a downer. I can't get this off my mind and thought blogging might help.

I'm so sorry to hear this - what a terrible thing to happen! I'm very glad they'll be ok but I'm not surprised it would remain on your mind. I hope the driver is charged and punished.

Thank you all for your good thoughts. The two people injured are going to be OK. I found out later that they are brother and sister, so I am doubly glad they are both alright. She has two broken ankles and is in her 60's so probably a long road of recovery ahead. He is in better shape and has been released from the hospital. The driver wasn't arrested for drunk driving, but was cited for careless driving, without a license or insurance.

I hope blogging helps. I lost an aunt I was close to 5 years ago to a drunk driver.

I pray your co-workers will be alright.
