Stopped "Crying" About Going Over in My Calories

Saturday, June 16, 2012

And, I stopped being mad at Applebees (I ate a Santa Fe Chicken Salad for lunch, and it had over 500 calories. WTF?). When I did my final calculations yesterday, I only went over by 30 calories, and I ended up eating a lot of salad in the evening.

I don't know how many calories I was eating before, but I definitely don't want to go that route again. Balance isn't so easy to achieve, and I am finding this first week that when I get hungry, I get REALLY hungry and cranky. What do people do when this happens?

Well today, I entered calories before I actually ate. I was wowed! I normally eat & then log. I didn't eat as much as I would have been. You could actually do 30mins of workout to burn those nasty extra calories.

God bless & no crying necessary.

The first week I started Spark People, I analyzed what I was putting on my plate! I did this while counting the calories with the tracker. I wasn't hard on myself the first month because I considered myself training for my lifestyle change.

As time went by, I started making healthy switches....don't drink your calories (one cup of whole milk = 150 calories...drink 2% instead), cook healthier and you can have more on your plate and most importantly....don't punish yourself for going over your calorie intake.

This lifestyle change takes time to accomplish and we are not perfect so our habits will never be perfect. Remember that each day is a new day to start fresh from a clean plate and make healthy choices. That means...there is no such thing as "starting over!"

Take a look at my shared foods and you will get an idea of how when you cook healthier, you can eat more food and never be hungry, all while keeping the calories low! www.sparkrecipes.com has some awesome low calorie recipes that will help you make healthy food while maintaining your goal of low calories.

Remember that weight loss is 80% eating healthy and 20% exercise!
