Catch Up Day

Saturday, June 16, 2012

My daughters, the bride, the bridesmaids and a few other friends went to Chicago for a bachelorette weekend this weekend. It would have been great to go with them, but I have to work today and tomorrow. I probably would have felt out of place anyway.

The girls all left yesterday morning early. I had the day off and it gave me a chance to catch up on a few things. I caught up on my housework. I passed out my Avon books and ran my errands.

The house sure was quiet last night, though. I was glad for the chance to spend a little time outdoors in the evening talking to the neighbors. It's nice that the four of us in this building get along. We're all in about the same age range and seem to have a lot in common.

I'm really anxious for the girls to come back from Chicago tomorrow, though. My oldest flew into Chicago from Alabama and will be coming back for the week. It's been over a year and a half since I've had both my girls with me and I absolutely can't wait.

The only bummer is that I have long work days on Monday and Wednesday and have to go in for four hours on Tuesday. I got a call yesterday asking if I wanted to work a long day on Thursday and promptly passed on that. Now, if it was next week, I probably would be tempted. I'll probably be bumming that the house will again be quiet and I'll be missing my girls already. I've learned a long time ago to try to stay busy for awhile after they leave. It's the only way I can get through the lonliness.
