Bit of a binge last night

Friday, June 15, 2012

So, I had a bit of a binge last night and it was not just on strawberries. I think it all started when we have a cookout at work and I ate a hot dog and brat (no buns) and some cheetios. I got off schedule and I think that threw me. Did not eat my greek yogurt and berries for snack but ate a Lara bar instead.

So I got home and had a couple of my blue corn with flax seed tortilla chips. I can usually eat 3 and then I am good. Well, not last night. The 3 did not do the trick so I had some of my husbands chips before supper (about 2 servings). At least supper was baked cod with baby carrots but that too did not do the trick. So for dessert I had 2, count them 2 small bowls of sugar loaded ice cream, gasp..... That did the trick. It felt like one of the bottomless pit days and I cannot remember when the last time I had one of those (thanks Aunt Flow!!!)

Am I going to beat myself up over this especially when I did not workout that day, NOPE!!!!!! Do I feel the need to workout today, a little. Might just go for a walk after work. One smallish binge should not cause an issue especially when I don't even know how to lose anything in the first place.

Now the bigger test is in 2 weeks when we go out to Colorado to visit my sister in law. I WILL be stopping at a grocery store so we can at least make breakfast and some dinners at her place (she loves my healthy cooking). Going to plan out a bunch of good food for snacks.

Well, everyone have a great weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the great dad's out there (animal dad's too).

It was the cheetos. They are laced with chemicals that make you want to eat more. Its very interesting, rats will pick fruit loops over cocaine. Basically, you were drugged. Binges start with a carb and end with a combination of fat/protein. Brats are usually filled with starch and sugar and salt to drive you to eat them. I'm sorry that you had that happen, I hate when food seems to drive the bus. You might find some solace in Renee Stephens podcast 'Inside Out Weight Loss'. Especially episodes 1-18 (they are also available to stream/listen to on her website, just scroll all the way down the page of 'episodes.) I really like the 're-do' because its a great way to program yourself to do what you want and to do it without beating yourself up. Self recrimination just raises your stress level and when we are stressed out we get a hit of cortisol, testosterone (which makes chicks cranky and hairy.) and insulin (the fat storage hormone.) Thats why I prefer to help myself calm down and to be sure to eat enough fats. It helps me stay in control. Nobody whats their life run by a cheeto.

I hope you are feeling better today. emoticon

No one binge will not ruin you. You may need one more often. Shake up your habits! Different foods, alternating workouts. It's too easy to become a creature of habit. Have a great weekend and I hope you all get out for a nice ride.
