I believe I can. I believe I can. I believe I can.

Friday, June 15, 2012

30 years ago this summer, I saw my favorite installment of the Rocky films - Rocky III.

Happy Friday, Fellow Sparkies!

What a month on SP has been! I have accomplished more than I believed I would. Yay me. :) Running has proved to be rewarding & extremely challenging. Some days are harder than others.... So, I'm on my 3rd day of C25K W5...20 minutes straight without walking. Hmm....Honestly, I'm a bit doubtful that I can do this...I'm having trouble with running for 8 straight minutes. I have to believe I can do it!

Nutrition...UGH. Another story. Everyday seems to be challenging me! See, I have this love-hate relationship with WW Points Plus. Most of this month I've been "unfaithful" to WW PP & so the scale & I have broken up indefinitely. I have to believe that I can find a better way!

These momentary lapses of doubt gets me right in the gut. It affects everything I do & the people closest to me. So, here is my mantra by Napoleon Hill:

I know I've got to celebrate the progress I've made thus far. I am sincerely proud of what I've done this last month. As a "recovering" perfectionist, I am choosing progress over perfection. So, on a wing & a prayer I'm going out on my run today. I believe I can do it...I think...LOL!

Happy Father's Day to all the SP Dads!
Many thanks for your adds, comments, & daily inspiration! emoticon

Thanks so much, everyone! Although I wasn't able to make it the full 20 minutes, I did run for 2.5 songs - which is roughly 10 minutes straight thru. I walked/ran the rest of the time. I'm going at my own pace & I am proud of what I was able to do at this point. Cheers emoticon

Happy Father's Dsy, SP dads! emoticon

Don't worry...you can do the 20 minutes. Just take it slow.

For the most part the body can do more than the mind believes it can. I love the old story of "Training Fleas"

Fleas are incredible jumpers. In fact, a flea can jump over 150 times its own size.
But if a FLEA TRAINER puts a flea in a jar with a lid on it, the flea will, of course, begin to jump, but after a while, the flea, tired of banging his head against the lid, will lower his jump. Once they become accustomed to the fact that they cannot escape, you can remove the lid and the flea will only jump as high as where the lid was. He will never escape the jar because his mind has been reprogrammed to only jump so high. The flea limits itself because of conditioning and experiencing the school of hard knocks.

So, I know you can, I know you can, I know you can!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that you will be able to run more than 8 minutes today. emoticon

Great attitude, stay positive. On a different note, while Rocky III worked on his internal demons and doubts with himself (which is what most of us here are dealing with), I still prefer Rocky II out of all the Rocky movies. All of them were great inspirational movies in different ways and could all stand alone.
