I think I officially have "summeritis!" Every get-together, however spur-of-the-moment, feels like a party. Lots of excuses to have yummy summer drinks, ice cold beers and lots of snackies. The warm summer evenings lend themselves more to a sedentary stretch of time with a good book than with physical activity...oh the list goes on

Adding to the summeritis is the fact that summer is actually here - the motivation to lose weight and tone up before swim suit and shorts season is gone because it has arrived!! I think this is a big part of the reason I'm finding myself with a lack of focus and a general malaise about everything health and fitness right now. I'm busy with work during the week, and busy with fun on the weekends - both things I am thankful for - but I'm letting myself get caught drifting. I know where the drifting leads to - washed ashore on gained-10-pounds-this-summer island come September

This is what can happen when you get a bad case of Summeritis! My Golden, Trigger, after a particularly fun-filled camping weekend (complete with pond for non-stop dog swimming!)
Well, it is time to sweep away this unhealthy mindset, and look at Summer with fresh eyes. Social gatherings are about the people and not the food. Fresh produce is abundant. Heavy, fatty meals and overeating are not compatible with hot days. I want to come out of summer relaxed, refreshed, thinner, healthier, and fortified with a host of healthy new habits.
