I will admit, I like clothes. I like pretty clothes. I tend to focus on natural fibers, embroidery, ethnic styles. Kind of hippie-boho-traveller - that's my look for everyday wear.
So when tiling, I change into old clothes - clothes that fit 40 lbs ago. Huge baggy shorts or cropped pants, pretty tops that gap and gape and hang. And, of course, I make sure my clothes don't clash, despite the fact that everything is currently smeared with blue cement. (We add blue bond to the thinset, to help it stick and to add some flexibility.)
Today - navy blue shorts, ivory embroidered faux-wrap top with mini sequins. Hardly tiling clothes, but they are huge, they'd have gone to some rummage sale, I kept a few items for tiling.
I walked by a paraprofessional who asked, "Why are you messing up your nice clothes?"
I answered, "I'm HAPPY to be messing up these nice clothes!!! These are huge on me [pulling the front of the shirt to show the extra five or so inches of fabric]. These clothes are from 40 lbs ago. I'm THRILLED that they're way too big and I can wear them for tiling!"
And it is SO totally true!!!!!
