Weight Watchers or Spark People?

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

I'm having a difficult time trying to keep up with two different websites as well as my normal everyday crazy life. I joined Weight Watchers the beginning of March when they formed a group at my workplace. I have thought many times about quitting but my daughter is in it with me so I will continue until she leaves for college.

Part of me wants to just use one site but here's my dilemma: Weight Watchers I pay for so I may as well utilize it. This one is free and I know I will continue after I quit paying for Weight Watchers. The problem with this site is I find several "bleeps" where it freezes up for no apparent reason. My guess is all the pop-up ads that are allowed so that we can continue to use this site for free are causing issues. Another plus about this site is that I am familiar with it so it's easier to navigate and find what I like. Such a chore but I really feel the need to keep up with both.

My June goals are going fairly well. When I am grounded, meaning in my normal routine, I do very well. When I am on vacation or out of my norm, I seem to do terrible. How am I going to fix this?? I need to use my phone app tracker - that would definitely help me to be more aware of my choices and help me to stay on track.

My goal is to lose 10 pounds this month. Once I achieve my goal, I will set the next but not until then. I have a little over a year before my daughter's wedding and I need to make sure that I feel comfortable in my own skin. There will be many pictures and I don't want to look at them with tears in my eyes. I can do this and I WILL do this! Just need to take the baby steps to get there.

I think the thing about WW that makes it work is the meetings and the weigh ins.

Although...I was one of the few that seemed to actually GAIN on the program. I guess it was all the focus on weighing and focusing on food 24/7. I do much better when I have a plan that doesn't spend so much time just fixated on food.

Then many years later I went back to it and did much better. But again...it's the peer pressure for me NOT to gain when I step on that scale. Go figure! emoticon

I like Spark SO much better but agree about the sluggishness of the software load. Can you even IMAGINE how much revenue they take in on ads?

Oh well as long as that's what allows us to use the site free..it's okay by me! emoticon emoticon

I do WW for the face to face meetings (and I also go with my aunt and Mom, so I feel compelled to continue for them!)

But I find this site SO much easier to use and friendly. Have not been able to figure out the community features on WW and can never seem to post a blog (always tells me to "try again later" !!)

Also, I find I need to manage my carbs and the "free" fruit is never free for me. It keeps me in the same place month after month!

At any rate, hope you find a balance and success regardless of what path you choose!

I joined WW in March after losing 65lbs on spark in the 2 years before. I still regularly come on here, and trying to get back into things more here with teams etc. It is difficult to do both, but I've been successful with WW.
