Quick, quick, before it goes away again. The internet access has resurfaced, so I can log in for the first time in a day and a half. What really makes it horrible is that we took the total package of cable tv, internet, and home phone service, so nothing has workedl
(I even had a brief "I told you so" moment, since I had argued against getting rid of our old wired-in phone, but I counted to ten and got over it.) Steve works at home, so cursing and muttering, he loaded his laptop and secure outlet and went out looking for free WIFI.
Our service had been spotty with a lot of static and pixelation before, so an engineer came out last week to inspect. He said that whoever had run the underground wiring hadn't connected it correctly, so eventually it had separated somewhat. He installed a really kickin' thick trunk-line type cable -- our service had never been so good! -- and his parting words were that he hoped the underground installation guys didn't mess it up again.
Yesterday two men showed up with their digging device to install the cable underground. Within minutes, I looked up to see their truck pulling away, just as the tv fizzled and died. I ran outside to stop them, but they had already left, without ckecking to see if everything worked. We called to complain, they thought they had it fixed for a couple of hours, then everything went again. This is the worst cable system ever. I'm afraid to spell their name in case, like saying "Voldemort," their evil will resurface, but let's just say that my computer is not Comcastic any more.
The worst part is no phone service. Our home is a dead spot where no cell phones work, so we have to walk beyond the front yard to get one bar. My 84-year-old mother-in-law has asthma, COPD, other severe health problems, and is on oxygen 24 hours a day, so emergency phone service is crucial.
Angry...frustrated...wishing I had an alternative provider. Grrr.
