Trail Training Journal - Entry 4

This was as unexpected and unplanned as can be. We were out doing something completely different....that I actually had planned on using for the exercise portion of my day (lots of walking). But I had brought some Geocacheing coordinates with me and that's how this came about. It was a rainy day and the 3 kids we had with us were NOT happy to be dragged out into the woods in the weather....but we did it anyway!!
The last cache we tried to find (yeah, we weren't successful) was on a trail but I had no idea how far we'd be walking to get to it (operator error....didn't read the description very well). But it was one of the neatest trails I've been on yet. It ran between 2 streams and with the rain both were running crazy. The description for the cache explained that the trail was the former site of railroad tracks which made it even cooler. The trail was very nicely maintained and the scenery was amazing!!! We ended up walking just over a mile (2 children were not in walking appropriate shoes). It wasn't a complicated trail so that was nice.
Water run-off flowing into the creek.
As for the cache, we had some fun with that. It turned out that it was off the trail a bit.... well..... here's DH looking for it (no, we didn't find it):
It was a nice workout for me. Not too taxing, but it was walking at a good pace with some really beautiful scenery!
