That didn't go as expected...

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

I had planned to get back into the exercise groove yesterday after work... but that didn't go as expected.

Honestly, it could have and probably should have, but after sitting in the heat all day at work I decided that I didn't want to exercise.

Today it was much cooler and I was determined to MAKE myself exercise!

At lunch I realized I forgot my protein bar that I usually eat in the afternoon before I leave work so that I'm not starving as soon as I get home.

Nothing will ruin a workout faster for me than being hungry... no matter how hard I try, if my stomach is growling I can't focus on anything else. LOL

Around 3pm I was starving, which is not good when you don't have your afternoon snack with you at work.

So I made a trip to the vending machine.

I probably could have made a better selection, but oh well.

Tomorrow I will be sure to pack my afternoon snack!

It rained on and off all day today... that's another thing that makes it SO easy for me to decide not to work out.

But not today!

I went home, got changed, and got reacquainted with the treadmill.

About 16 minutes in... my heart rate monitor battery died on me. It's rechargeable and hadn't been charged since before my vacation. I didn't realize it was that low or I would have charged it when I skipped my workout yesterday!

I kept up the walk/jog intervals despite the HRM though.

I normally do 50-55 minutes on the treadmill, but today I only did 35 minutes... because my iPod announced to me that the battery was low. I didn't even know it would do that! A female voice came on over my song and said something about the battery being low. Weird!

It wasn't the best food day... and it wasn't the best workout, but at least it was something!

The iPod is currently being charged along with the HRM and I will be sure to pack my afternoon snacks for the rest of the week... so I have NO excuse not to get back on the treadmill... and hopefully stay on it for my usual workout.

I was pleasantly surprised that after 2 weeks of no running that I was still able to run for most of my workout!

Goodness! Ha. You just had bad luck yesterday. I'm glad you still workout though, and I am really glad that you were able to run for most of your workout too! Hope you have a great workout today!

WOW, you ran for 35 minutes! That is surely better than nothing!! Those darn vending machines are evil. I am proud of your accomplishments despite the craziness. You have inspired me to get my workout in before bed even though the kids were extra heathens today. :) yay! emoticon

Just the fact that you found out that you can still run on the treadmill after 2 weeks, is a BIG feat! WooHoo to you and besides, you have to slowly break your body back into routine after your break and you did. Good going! emoticon emoticon

Don't worry about it too much. 35 minutes isn't a bad workout. We have all had those days. It was probably your body just telling you what you needed. emoticon
