Minnesota, C210k, and what the heck is everyone reading?

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

So I made it safely to Minnesota, where I'll be spending my summer working on a leadership program. My hotel is nice... the hotel gym, not so much. There's a couple of treadmills, a couple of ellipticals, and a bike. The equipment isn't as nice as the gym back home, but I'll have to make due. I called around for gym prices and in Minneapolis, that's a bit more high priced than Wisconsin. Running is free, so I'm going to start the Couch to 10k program. Well, I started it yesterday. We will see where it gets me this time. Last time around I had bad shoes and got shin splints. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll increase my stamina! You more than likely will not see a ton of blog updates from me this summer as my working hours have increased (from 6:45-3:45 with drive time to... 7:00-6:00 with drive time) where I am losing about 2 hours of my day due to commute and overtime. But that's ok! Keeping busy keeps me healthy, wealthy, and wise ;)

...when I do have free time I'm going to make sure I hit the hotel's gym a few times a week and READ. I need suggestions. What is everyone reading out there? (I've already read Twilight, Hunger Games, 50 Shades of Grey so those are out)

I hope everyone is having a FANTABULOUS TUESDAY!

Dracula In Love by Karen Essex was good. I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It was the best book I've read in a long time. Highly, highly suggest it.

You rock for being able to kick a** while being busy. When I am super busy or working too much my healthy habits are the first to go out the window (trying not to do that this time though)... so the fact that you are rocking it is such an inspiration! I will miss seeing your blogs all the time, but it's super understandable with your schedule, I'm just selfish like that. ;)

Way to make your work outs a priorit-ay!
I don't read to much fiction but just read Wicked by Gregory Maguire, totally awesome. Now I'm on Stiff by Mary Roach, hilarious, disturbing and fascinating. Do you know abut abebooks.com? Indi used book sellers, you get to pick where you buy from, tons of books cheap, supports mom and pop shops.

wow, busy summer! I'm also thinking of trying Couch to 5K... and signing up for a 5K that my work is hosting in October. Haven't quite made the commitment yet. What sort of genres do you like, as far as books are concerned?

You might enjoy 'Dead Witch Walking" by Kim Harrison. It's the first book in 'The Hollows' series. And the Sookie Stackhouse books, (what True Blood) is based on are some of my all time favorite books. There are I think 10 or so books in The Hollows series and at least 13 in the Sookie books. So if you end up liking either book, you have lots to read! Good luck with your summer!
