"Medium Sized"

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

I recently started dating someone new and quickly progressed to being "official". His Da (what he calls his step dad) is a rather big man. My boyfriend, his mom and his daughters all lovingly refer to his Da as "Fat Pappa" when the girls are around. I told he and his mother how mean it was to call him that or "the fat man". His Da smiled and thanked me.

My boyfriend then reminded him that he used to pick at him for being skinny - calling him stringbean, brail, stretch - you name it.

His dad's comment - "yeah, these 2 ladies are lucky being medium sized, they don't get any jokes!" Now his mom commented that she wasn't medium, she's fat - but I think she's just a little thick.

But for me...medium was like a punch in the gut after losing 20 lbs. It's like...what does it take to be thin?

Back in the saddle with spark - time to get past my goal weight and into the thin people world!

Ah, I wish we were not so often stung by outrageous comments from other people.

I'm sorry you went through such a gut-wrenching moment and that you feel the need to find a way into the "thin people world." To me, health is the most important thing, as in:

Are you eating the right foods? Are the eating the right amount of these foods? Are you moving enough to maintain a body that allows you to take on physical challenges and conquer them?

If you can say yes to these three points, then you are moving toward health, and that is something of which you can be so very proud.

Despite what others say.
