High Park Fire near our cabin (Continued)

Monday, June 11, 2012

The fire near our cabin is still growing and is 0% contained after about 36 hours. I can't believe that it started out as 1 acre about a mile from our cabin and is now 36,000 acres. They don't know many specifics. They say they are concentrating on life preservation measures so they don't have an estimate of the number of structures destroyed. We got a notice yesterday afternoon saying we needed to evacuate. We had already left on Saturday as soon as we saw how much the fire was growing. The fire intially moved away from us but has circled back toward us. So we just wait. There is one report of a missing person but they can't get into the area of the house to try and find the person yet. We are praying for everyone's safety and the preservation of as many homes as possible.

Your fire has made national news each day, so we keep watching for updates on its progression and attempts to stop it. Unbelievable! Praying your house is safe, and all the firefighters stay safe as well.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I've watching the smoke/fire from my backyard as it moves south (and every other direction).

I am praying for the safety of everyone in this area and that this fire can be contained quickly. I am also praying for rain to come down as that should help to moisten the area. In times like these that is all we can dois look to God for his help.

Waiting has to be hard. I'm so glad you are out of harms way; nothing you can do about anything else but wait. Keep busy, count blessings, this will pass. Hugs.

My thoughts and prayers for everyone. The last news update I had seen it said it was at 27,000 acres so it sounds like it's grown quite a bit now to 36,000. They can sur grow fast.
