So far so good

Monday, June 11, 2012

I haven't moved around a whole lot yet but I think the some of the pain has subsided. Just got out of the shower and I'm resting up a bit before I get dressed but I feel like maybe I will be able to move a bit today.

I also got confirmation from my doctor's coordinator that I should now be on soft food. This will mean more choices and the requirement to chew. I'm a bit nervous but excited and I am going to spend some time planning the next days food.

Yesterday I downloaded Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies Cookbook. I've always been against buying a book that would call the reader (me) a dummy but it has great information about cooking in general. I also downloaded Eat It! By Connie Stapleton that investigates the roots of obesity and how if they are not dealt with after weight loss, the weight loss is not sustained. That is a story I already know too well so I thought it would not hurt (well some of the stuff does hurt to look at) me to start dealing with the issues while I am losing weight.

I am looking forward to increasing my activity this week!

Yes, what Ilene said, protein, protein and more protein. It is funny how hard it is to actually get that protein in, I thought that would be the easiest thing to do...wrongo. Sounds like you are pushing yourself while taking it slow, great job listening to your body. Keep it up!

emoticon It's hard, but you need to work through the pain. Walk as much and as often as you can, even if it's just lots of really short walks with breaks in between. It will actually help you heal. Remember to eat LOTS of protein (I use Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes at least once a day - 27g of whey isolate protein per 2-scoop serving). Protein helps repair your body. And drink lots of water! To ease the pain you might want to apply a heating pad for short periods around the day - especially just before doing anything strenuous.

Good luck! emoticon
