Friday was my 5th wedding anniversary. I cannot believe that; my how the time has flown. I was able to get off work an hour early just in case hubby was able to get off early also. He couldn't, but it was fine because I needed to talk to mom for a few minutes. We made this an anniversary weekend, by having dinner and a movie of my choice. We were going to do the movie on Saturday before dinner, but the times did not work well with our reservation time, so we were going to do the movie today. Dinner was at a place called The Buckhorn in the next town. We started with some onion straws with a cajun dipping sauce, which hubby followed with cream of mushroom soup. I was good and had a green salad before dinner. I got a glass of wine, which took me all of dinnertime to finish. We both chose the rib eye plates with green beans, mine with rice and his with baked potato. I did get a dessert also, but brought most of it home with the other items I could not finish. They kept wanting to take the onion straws away, but I told them no. Everything was perfectly done. I found it fitting that we used a gift card that his old boss (who died last year) gave us for our wedding. We had lots of snuggle time this weekend, which felt so good!
Sunday, today, was a relaxed day of snuggling, hot tub, with a little bit of shopping and cooking. We even were outside and got a little bit of sunshine. The movie I decided to pass on today because of just feeling really tired. We are going to postpone it until 2 weekends up the road, after he takes a test for his job. Hopefully I will be less stressed also.
This afternoon I put a chuck roast in my pressure cooker, and there was a blow-out, which kind of upset me. It has been working fine, and all opening were clear. So the only thing we can figure out is that there is a problem with the gasket not sealing tight, even though it is only a few months old. So I put the roast in the oven, and then when I tested it with a fork, I remembered that the pressure cooker is the best way for a chuck roast. So I borrowed hubby's and it is almost done I think. The recipe is Argentine Style Beef with Chimichurri sauce. I think I am going to take the meat and sauce and put it on a tortilla with some spinach for dinner. It is a new recipe, but it smelled good even before it was done cooking, so I have high hopes.
Dad saw the endocrinologist last Friday. When he saw the norepinephrine numbers, he asked if those had ever been tested before, so mom said in 2010. He was not as high as he was in 2010, but he was still way over the upper limit. He looked at them and asked what the doctor had done to work on that. When told nothing, he recommended starting a particular medication even though the urine analysis has not been received. He deduced that dad's body is in overdrive producing adrenaline, so the medication will help prevent so much adrenaline from being produced, thus bringing the blood pressure down if that is the cause. Everybody says he won't see any difference for a couple of weeks. Well, he took the first dose on Friday night, and his blood pressure in the morning was lower than he has had a morning BP since the ER visit a month ago. That is progress because all the other traditional blood pressure medications made his morning BPs higher. So tomorrow they are going to talk to the doctor about getting a larger quantity and the ability to increase weekly until they get to a place that dad's number is stable throughout the day and the diastolic number is where they would like it, under 100, so they can do the hernia surgery. I am so happy that there is some progress being made, and there is a better possiblity of him being taken care of before the end of the year.
I am going to try making my own wine. I figure I will slowly collect the things I need, and set it in motion. Since there are about 6 steps, over a year's time frame, I will just start with the basics. I have high hopes, and will have patience.
HOpe all had a good weekend and have a good week ahead.
