I was successful in losing 5% of my weight during the Spring 5% Challenge, and I plan on doing the same for the Summer 5% Challenge. The question posed by our leaders is Why? Why do you want to do this?
I want to run. I want to be able to lace up my Defyance and hit the road and not feel like I may collapse. I want to run 8K's, 15K's and half marathons - but it starts with 5K, and so I'm training for that.
I want to avoid my family's tendency towards diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. There are very few health issues that can't be improved/avoided by getting fit and losing weight, and luckily, most of my family's issues fall in that category!
Losing another 5% would mean that I'm no longer Obese, merely Overweight. I'm sorry, but the word "obese" conjures up images that I'm just not comfortable with, not at all!
I want to fit into all my lovely summer dresses! I miss them! Also, I have some capris that I haven't been able to wear in ages - losing 5% would put me back into them.
Mostly, I want to lose another 5% because it will mean that I'm on the path to a stronger me!
