Week in Review...

Saturday, June 09, 2012

Well, I haven't met any of my goals for the week. If I eat beans today I will meet the 3x a week goal. Other than that I failed with everything except avoiding fast food. I haven't been exercising after dinner because I haven't been feeling well. I have gotten some walking in this week but I didn't track it. I have a month until I see the dietician again. I really want to make progress but my head isn't in the game at the moment. I thought I was ready to work on this again but I guess I am just the failure that I have always been when it comes to losing weight.

Stop that talk you!! You are not a failure you have to revel in the small victories and vow to do better on the ones that "just weren't there"!! I know you can do it - we are totally all here for you - your spark peeps!

You are not a failure. I didn't make my goals of exercise this past week and overate a few times myself this past week. I am not a failure either---we just need to try harder to reach goals that we set for ourselves. So I got 30 minutes of walking in today, and eat much better and you can do it to emoticon oe day at a time. Everyone I know has days that don't go the way we would like but we didn't get to this point without trying so keep trying. I know you can do this.

You aren't a failure.
Sometimes life gets in the way of goals and you have to just let it.
My therapist told me that very small very doable goals was a good way to start a "habit". My goals were silly (to me) at first but as I found myself reaching them, I was encouraged to move forward to larger goals. I agree with BLUE42DOWN that simple things add up to a lot! You can do this!

When we fail to meet goals, it does not make us a failure. It means only that we failed that one goal, that other goal, that to date we haven't found the mix that works for us. It might take us hundreds of goals, thousands of restarts, to find the combination that makes the difference for us.

Did you get the Monday goals done? If you did, perhaps try working day-to-day with simple things that can add up over the week, the month, life, but are easy to look at in the small chunk of a day. For example, it's probably easier to say "I will have beans with dinner today" and accomplish that. Saying "I will have beans with three meals this week" means we have to remember that and if we put it off, we end up with two days left and no beans eaten.
