This is going to a be a dual entry. I had a thought about calories and how we tend to consume our calories throughout the day. I also hit the yoga mat again today.
Let's start with the yoga class. I have not been on the mat for any consistent amount of time in almost a year. I tend to get going with it for a little while and then just let it go by the wayside only to pick it up later on. I went to my first yoga class in AGES tonight and had a blast. I have not sweat as much on the mat than I did in this class. The teacher was fantastic and I really enjoyed how she taught. She wanted us to push ourselves to our limits and I did my best to do that. I loved the flow of the poses and the teacher included some Pilates moves in the routine too. We did a bit of core work but it was a flow class so it was my cardio for today.
Onto the next part of this entry. I did not realize until this week how many of the calories not only I, but we as a society consume in just liquids that are not water. Between soda, coffee (usually with cream and sugar), and other drinks we consume more calories than we could keep track of I think. Granted, if you are a diet soda fanatic you do not consume much but the sugars in those are enough that you might as well just consume the calories anyway. I know I was consuming a few different liquid calories a day and it is most likely part of why I gained my weight back. Something I have learned this week is to keep my liquid calories to a minimum so I can eat the proper nutrients with the calories I save.
