Day 1

Friday, June 08, 2012

So here I go. Day 1 of 14-week training program. I was supposed to do 5 mins easy walk, 15 mins easy run then 5 mins easy walk. Much less than what I've been doing. So we start off uphill through the very muddy woods (we being my best friend-partner and self) walking fast, which took us nearly 12 minutes. Then I ran for 15.5 mins, then we walked back down the road to the village. But as my friend and motivator Striver57 pointed out recently, it's a bit pointless walking when you can run. So I ran another 15 mins, up and downhill as poor partner can't run due to very bad back. Probably did another 15 mins in all, plus some more walking.
Feels great. I did some ST this morning too.
Tomorrow I have a 20-minute run with 5 mins brisk walk either side.

So I'll have to keep you all posted, which makes me accountable, which means I'll do this. Suddenly I feel really enthusiastic about it all.
Can I rely on you all to keep me going on the days I don't feel quite so motivated?
Merci!!!!

I'd be glad to be on your motivation team! I'm kind of in awe about your ambitious program. I feel like I'm watching from far, far away, both literally and figuratively, since I could never do something like that myself, but it is an honor to cheer you on!

yes of course i'll nag you. are you sure you're supposed to pretend you have no base miles? i haven't run since monday and am irritated as hell about it ... mainly at my dentist. came home & needed to be taken out for tacos and margaritas (authentic, delicious, pretty cheap, and practically around the corner). i feel better today & am tryiing a group run tomorrow. it's sort of a tryout for ParisFit; there's a link on the paris women's running group page on fb, but i'm pretty sure it's not convenient for you (not that bois de boulogne is convenient for me. or saturday mornings. but i thought i'd try it and see. and am especially glad after not running since monday. but it'll still be 3 runs this week.

Brilliant! Yes, you can rely on me. I'm looking forward to reading your blogs. Is the race you're aiming for, in 14 weeks, La Parisienne?
