Losing steam lately

Friday, June 08, 2012

Hello everybody,

I really need to refocus my efforts here in June. I have not been eating right for the past week or so. I am staying within my calorie range for the most part. I have been skipping breakfast and going whole days without any fruits or veggies. I have been eating pizza and I won't lie, It taste great. I know the next day that I ate bad by the way my body feels. It's not a good feeling to feel heavy & sluggish.

I know that I will be o.k. & get back on track but I am not sure what happened.
I had been doing a lot of mowing and raking in the yard and counting that as my exercise. I have no problem with that as I burn close to 2000 calories mowing the yard for 3-4 hours, two days in a row. The problem came when the weather turned and it was raining for 5 days straight. Only 1 of those days, I went to the gym.

I think the pressure of finding a job is starting to get to me. My unemployment will be running out soon and I am having no luck at all finding work. I know that I will get a job when my assistance ends but the problem is, at that point, I am going to have to take a job making much less than what I am used to. There are a lot of jobs I could apply for but they are all offering about $5 an hour less than what I was making.

So, time to refocus and get back to the gym 5 times a week, and start eating right again. I know what I need to do and I WILL do it. I guess that while on a long journey like this, I will have little bumps in the road. At least I have still been good with staying below 2000 calories a day.

I hope you are all well and making healthy choices.

Sorry you've hit a bump in the road. Stress can really undermine our good intensions sometimes. I really do hope the best for you. I haven't been checking in SP regularly, but when I do, I always like to see what you are up to. We're both 40, and even though I'm moving more slowly towards my goals, I really believe that we will both be able to celebrate sub-300# this summer. I look forward to congratulating you! :) Set-backs are natural so don't let it get you down. Just do what you know you need to do to keep moving one foot in front of the other. Good luck bud!!!

I'm sorry you're stressed about work. That is the worst! Try to focus on the things you can control like what you put in your body and how much you move. Food never fixes it! (my new mantra) I'm sending good thoughts for your job search. I know from experience how crummy it feels to work for less than you're used to, or worth. But things will turn around again. Keep your chin up Tony! Take all of those wonderful, supportive things you say to other people and start saying them to yourself. To your health my friend!!

Sorry about the stress. I have never been jobless for long, but for the first three years of our marriage my husband was underemployed, and it was hard on him.

Sometimes judicious use of olive oil helps me get back into the veggies - it's got that nice mouth feel without being quite as heavy as pizza. Just a thought. Good job catching yourself before you went very far off track. You can do this!

I know how stressful being out of work is and the added pressure of the end of benefits does not make it any better but continue to focus on yourself, your health and well being are worth it. We all go through patches where we lose focus but realizing it and getting back on track is the way to go.

Hang in there you will get through this. emoticon

Tony - We seem to all hit those ruts in the road. Going full steam ahead could be very tiring. Try for a goal of at least 3 times per week at the gym and then light exercise at home; refocus on your food and your water; blog and reach out to people here on SP. You will be fine. Deep breaths! Hope you find a job soon in order to get rid of the stress. emoticon

Time to get back at it. You know that not working out will increase your stress level and you don't need that. You've come so far. Don't get discouraged. Like you said, we all hit bumps in the road but we can jump over them and not let the stop us, right?
