Does changing gyms help remotivate?

Thursday, June 07, 2012

The idea of a new gym is on my mind. Multiple reasons make me wonder if that would help. I lost track of my motivation and drive to press on with the weight loss. No change since April or up a few pounds down is the issue. Fear of going either direction exists. Sigh.

Perhaps still not being comfortable at this new size of overweight is the culprit. There must be a way to remove this barrier in my head. So again, would changing gyms help? I am considering a larger place but likely would do less not more!
Wish I understood this better.

Your question got me thinking and I found that I was writing a blog in response...you might want to check it out!
I tend to agree with JODROX. I can't afford a full time gym membership so I look for opportunities to switch it up. With summer here I am planning to see how much it costs to swim at the local pool.

I guess, if I were in your shoes, I'd be thinking about what I want from my gym. Does your current gym not offer some equipment or classes that you want? Is location an issue? It's not a bad idea to switch - anything that will freshen things up for you and re-ignite the spark. You could try doing some stuff NOT at the gym, like biking/walking/running outside. Good luck finding what works for you!
