Pear tart substitute

Thursday, June 07, 2012

There's a great coffee shop in my building's lobby. I try not to go there often as they have wonderful pastries that are hard to resist. Well, I'm not sure why, but I was thinking of their pear tart and wanted one soooooooooo bad. I almost went down there but then I remembered a recipe I saved in my Spark recipe collection (snacks under 200 calories) and I remembered a pear one. It was quick and yummy and I probably saved 500 calories by not getting the one downstairs:

Pears, fresh, 1 pear, medium (approx 2-1/2 per lb)
Pecans, chopped fine, 5 grams
Honey, 1 tsp
Cinnamon

Peel, core, and slice pear. Heat in microwave for 1 minute. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle nuts and cinnamon on top.

Awesome.......those 'Cherimoya's are so good but, you're right...very messy! Just love the flavor though. Really good partially frozen. Kind of creamy like ice cream. Love whole foods too. That's a dangerous store. I always spend way more than I intend.

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing about using apples instead of pears. it would be great.

Glad you had a chance to try a Cherimoya.

That sounds yummy! I bet you could use apples as well, don't you think? Theres' something wonderful about that sweet and sour in one bite of apple pie. emoticon Guess what? This weekend I was at Whole Foods and they had Cherimoyas! I felt so "in the know" when the cashier asked me what it was emoticon It really was FABULOUS and quite messy, even eating it with a spoon. Those little seeds were every where. emoticon
