Time to assess where I am on this journey. Well, it seems I haven't kept up my walking. Have not been out since Thursday of last week. I went back out this evening and while I was only able to do 10 minutes. I did so happily. That is not always the case. DDH went with me. Not much of an adventure for him though as he can walk for miles. Such strong legs. I am jealous. I will keep myself going out every day. Mom and I are going clothes shopping tomorrow so I will get a walk in with that. I don't like clothes shopping right now as I need a 4x or 28 and I have only 1 shop I can go to. I won't be getting very much, but with donating, in error, my summer clothes last fall, I have to get something to wear.

The poor dog comes with us on our walks. Either DS or DH goes with me each time. What good boys they are. Probably expecting me to have a heart attack while I am out.Back to the dog. She is prancing and happy for the first 4 minutes and then realizes we are not going to stand on the lawn for as long as she wants and then go inside. By the time we get back, her ole tongue is hanging out of her mouth and she is breathing as hard as me. Part of our walk, the first 2 minutes infact, is uphill. It is a long grade but pretty steep. She always forgets that is where we are going. Poor doggy. She'll get fitter too.

I tossed out bottles in the living room again today, 30 of them, and bent and picked up all of them. Took me forever. I was huffing and puffing when that was done. But it serves a purpose. I must add that both DS and DH think it is madness.

My new deep freezer came today. It is much bigger than I thought, we bought it online and the picture was little. There is a sheet with it that says it only uses about $$66 worth of energy a year, so the landlords are happy and so am I. I like to conserve energy. ( mine and Hydro's ) LOL
We shop often and see so many good deals but had nowhere to store the products. It is especially true for meats and poultry. I also like to cook recipes that make more servings than we need and freeze some. However, now that beans are a staple of our diet, I am finding that many of the recipes on SPark, make 10 -16 servings each. As I don't like to eat the same thing twice in a week. and we were planning to make 3 recipes per week, we discovered that we would soon be overcrowded with leftover bean dishes. I have to rethink what I should do about this. It doesn't make sense to cut the recipe down as most recipes call for cans of beans and what to do with the other 1/2 can? Conundrum!

I weighed in on Monday and although I did lose 1 lb, I was disappointed. I thought I would lose more than that. I have so much to lose that it is discouraging to go sooo slow.

We are going away with friends during the week next week. We all go to 1 couples house and visit their town. It is in Niagara Falls and there is lots to see and do. Usually we go to The Shaw Festival, and see a couple of plays. This year I had to opt out of the plays as I am too big to fit into the theatre seats. This is a goal to work towards for next year at this time. We spend a lot of time walking around town and it is very hard for me. I have to sit down about every 10 or 15 minutes. DH and I walk and shop alone so no one else is held back. Besides, all my girlfriends shop for clothes and it is depressing for me to just waddle and watch. I will be taking most of my own food so that there will be something for me at each meal. Friday night we go out to dinner. I hope the menu includes lots of salads and chicken or fish. I can't have shellfish right now so am hoping for a good fish entrée'.

My goal this week is to walk as far as I can every day and to put my shoes on first thing in the morning to count ALL my steps. Usually I don't get my shoes on unless I am going out, and my pedometer is on my shoe. I am still doing pretty good with my water but this week I am going to put in a more concentrated effort to drink more water than diet soda.

That's it for today. Hope you are all healthy and strong and are working to stay that way.

Hi friend, I'm glad you are reassessing your progress and setting new goals. I find that I have to do that all the time, I set a goal but the progress is slow, I miss the deadline then have to set a new goal. By the way, one thing that has really helped me is being able to eat the same recipe an entire week! I actually don't mind it and sometimes look forward to it. Basically I cook something on Sunday and make enough to last till Friday and everyday I pack lunch to work and when I come back home I eat the same thing. But the freezer approach is a great idea since you prefer not to have the same recipe twice in the same week. You can do it!

It may seem slow but for now, it is still a step in the right
direction. I think the water bottle exercise makes good
sense even if the men in your life think its madness. No,
it's movement and it means you are trying. Just keep
up with what you are doing. HUGS!
