Update: Early Summer Edition
Tuesday, June 05, 2012
It's been a while since I've updated, but life has gotten quite busy. The good news is I'm maintaining Onderland, and I'm 6 pounds into it, so that is exciting. I've ramped up my running routine again because I signed up for my first 5K race on June 23rd. My friend Ryan and I will be running and our friends Dan and Danielle will be walking. I say running, but chances are I will need to walk some of it. I'm okay with that as long as I can keep the 12-13 min/mile pace I've been hitting so far.
Last weekend was a baby shower for my husband's friends. I'm so excited for them. They've had their obstacles getting here, so we're all thrilled. They will be great parents and have an awesome kid. It was nice to talk to a few of my friends I haven't seen in awhile. I haven't met a lot of my "own" friends since moving to Illinois, but I like how friendships have evolved from "Oh, you're the wife of my husband's friend" to "You are my friend."
We had a good Memorial Day weekend. We stayed in town and went to an arts festival in Schaumburg and then to the zoo. We grilled and enjoyed our weekend.
My father-in-law is still making it through his cancer treatment and recovery. He had surgery in early May and had a few complications last week, but he's doing much better now. Both he and my mother-in-law could use some extra thoughts, but things are going really well and we are hopeful for a full recovery.
This weekend is my sister's wedding shower. Things are well set up and we are ready to go. Plans are also coming together for her bachelorette party, which will include an exercise class (of course! with my sister). It's an exciting time, but I wish airfares were lower.
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far.
