WARRIOR DASH 2012 - Logan, OH

Monday, June 04, 2012

Seven of us went from my area. Six are gym buddies, and I am friends with one of them. Needless to say I was a little intimidated that I would not be able to keep up since they are all avid gym goers, etc. We rented 2 cabins off the beaten path and decided to dress the same. Originally we weren't super happy that we didn't get a starting time until 1:30 on Saturday. Saturday morning we were happy since it was pretty chilly following absolute downpours Friday during our 4 hour trip to Ohio. We were able to enjoy Friday night and then not have to get up at the crack of dawn on Saturday. We got up and had a liesurely breakfast of bagels, fruit, coffee, etc. We arrived at the site around 10:30. There are some finishers already around...muddy of course. The lines to get registered were ok and we were able to walk around and take it all in. I really enjoyed the music..Kilmaine Irish Rock Band played for a little while and then they had canned music. We had a group of Chippendale Dancer finishers dancing around in black speedos and bow ties (ughh!) but when a Zumba song came on that my group minus me and one that was shy went up in front of the stage and did the routine..a crowd gathered taking pix since they were even dressed alike. We happened to have stopped and got complimentary Monster drinks so the Monster vendors took pix of them dancing while holding Monster drinks in costume. We got approached by the Reebok vendor and were asked to put on his Reeboks (probaby since we weren't muddy yet) and get a group photo..he gave us 20% discount cards too! We checked out gear in and got to the starting gate in the front of our group. Some of the girls in my group got very nervous when the announcer told the front of our group that we really needed to sprint across the field to the tree line to avoid a bottleneck since the first mile and a half was a trail in the woods all UP HILL...honestly it was steep and too steep to run so a fast hike it was and by the first obstacle thought I was going to exhale a flattened out for 2 obstacles before we went up hill again but I did catch my breath...It was the VERY MUDDY mile down hill when I lost my group and wasn't sure exactly where everyone was. I finished every obstacle and was only really concerned about the wall where you had to use the rope and upperbody strentgh to get up to each ledge..I DID IT!! In my group I actually came in 4th out of 7 and the 3 behind me stayed together and were about 5-6 minutes behind. I waited for them at the fire pit so we could jump together for the photo op. If I hadn't I would have been very close or better than an I finished in about 65 minutes...around 2000 out of 3600 in my age group..WOOHOO...great fun..they did not have a good set up to wash off so we rode the old school bus shuttle to the car and put on trash bags to get back to the cabins...we stripped down, hosed off (there was actually an oustide hot water hose..woohoo and jumped into the hot tub. Great fun..and the only small issue is losing a toe nail.

Here are a before and after picture..more to follow when everyone posts their photos to FB..I'll add more pix to the blog

Sorry I missed seeing this blog when you wrote it. I've been wondering about your Dash experience! Great pics!! I saw a lot of chick groups in matching outfits. Sounds like you had a great time and did really well with the obstacles. I agree... the wall was the only one that I was a little nervous about. Good job getting over it! A lot of people walked around it so I felt really good that I did it.

    Woo-hoo go Warrior Jenn!
