Last weekend I went to a Farmer’s Market in Atlanta. It’s a two hour drive for me, so this is definitely not something I do every weekend. There are lots of farmer’s markets closer to my house, but for some reason, organic farming has not found its way to the part of the country where I live. I can find more organic produce at my local grocery store (shipped from California no doubt) than I can find at my local farmer’s market, which is a darn shame. So anyway, I am starting to make the trek to Atlanta periodically to indulge in the great food I can find there.
The market itself was so much fun! Lots of booths, with a good mix of produce, meat, and dairy direct from the farmer, to prepared foods, to arts and crafts. Everyone brought their dogs so it was a doggie festival! I meant to take pictures, but I was so caught up in trying to see everything that I completely forgot. Once I got home and unpacked, I was struck by all the lovely shades of green:
Gosh it was a long day, though. First I worked out for about 90 minutes before going. Then a total of four hours in the car there and back. Once I got home, I spent quite a bit of time cleaning and prepping the produce so it would be easy to eat throughout the week. It was worth it, though! I had yummy salads all week long, and I made veggie soup with the leftovers!
