Forks over Knives

Sunday, June 03, 2012

Tonight I'm watching Forks over Knives. And I'm finding it interesting.

Ironically right now due to my stomach problems I'm being told not to eat meat or dairy anyway.... I'm also being told not to eat vegetables tho. It's very frustrating to me to have worked so hard to eat healthier and then get a virus and have them tell me ignore everything you've been learning about diabetes, eat bland foods. Mostly I'm eating home made chicken broth and whole wheat noodles. The list of food and drink I am allowed included potatoes, so today I had a sweet potato. Nice to mix it up a little, and to feel a little more full. My stomach has been less upset by the bland foods, so I guess it's working. And ironically my blood sugar seems to be fine too. I think that's mostly due to the medicine tho. I'd like to get back to eating more whole foods, fruits, legumes and veggies especially. But I'll wait till the doctor gives me the go ahead obviously.

I hope after I get back on healthier foods I can lower the medicine.

thanks all, not allowed soy, it messes with my hormones and one other med I take, so I don't know if miso is allowed, but tofu definitely isn't. I may have to look into miso and see what's in it, sounds good. I could put some brown rice in that.

When I started eating healthier I cut back on meds and now only take one a day.

I hope you feel better soon, too!

I bet you can have some nice, nourishing miso soup (maybe with a little tofu in it). emoticon
