Started my morning off with some high energy Zumba -I just love this enthusiastic, go getter of an instructor -the really great news is she will have a regular class Thursday nights! She hasn't signed a contract yet, but hoping. I was worried what I would do when all my classes were cancelled at Lakewood Civic Center for the summer. This will be one fun replacement!!
Then it was time for kickboxing, and we were getting warmed up and then started running forwards and backwards. On the backwards, I caught my heel and went slamming on down on my back with my head bouncing off the floor. It made such a loud noise, several people nearest to me rushed to my aid! But it didn't even hurt, and certainly didn't make me dizzy or anything. I was lucky that floor is so springy. I do have a knot on there now, which is sore, but no other ill effect. I continued my workout without a break and put lots of energy and speed into it. She was really working us with speed drills. I was seriously sweating by the end, but happily, not once did I get out of breath :)
The it was home and shower and have lunch and start packing. Four blissful days at Mom's. Unfortunately, the reason I have four is my poor regular bridge partner on the first and third Tuesdays is still in hospital (week three) and has been diagnosed with cancer in the spine and will begin chemo soon. The blessing is they are keeping her pain free, but the drugs are making her incoherent :(
Thought I would share some photos of my birthday:
The first thing we did was put in the Russian Blue potatoes:
Later Mr. Bunny came by with birthday wishes:
That purple bike has an amazing story. Mom and I, on a hike, looked out over a bridge and saw an old mustang bike thrown down in the ravine. It was very dense with fallen trees and thick bushes. As my very first bike was a mustang, I thought it would be neat if we could rescue it. In spite of the trecherous steep slope with lots of detrious around, somehow Mom, on her own, dragged it up the hill and brought it three miles up hills and trails home! That is my remarkable Mom -never say die! She gifted me with several other gifts -pure merino wool socks from Cabela's, also a camouflage flashlight, a pair of Lululemon yoga pants to match my hoodie she gave me -in charcoal color -got compliments for looking good in them even from the young people -all that working out is paying off ;) My sister-in-law said you have no butt!! LOL.
In the evening Chase (who just had Lasik surgery and needed to wear those protective glasses) and James play classic card games -War and Go Fish if you can believe it!!
The cake:
The candles lit had different color flames but you can't really tell in this photo:
My sister gave me this amazing wooden puzzle:
The woman who created the design, Sue Coccia had a Great Grandmother who was Native American, that and her love of animals influenced her art and love of totems. My sister paid me a compliment:
"I figured you should have the grizzly totem, the way you face life's challenges head on and don't let anything stand in your way." Nice!
The pieces are amazing, smells like wood smoke and are carved into various figures:
There are 471 pieces and it will be really fun putting them together:
It was a wonderful quiet evening with my relatives -with no TV as Chase was told not to read or watch any for three days -a real treat not to have it blaring and distracting in the background!!
Hope you all have a wonderful evening!
Hugs,
Linda
