Super Stressed.....Here's Why.

Friday, June 01, 2012

Ok....I have been CRAZY stressed the last few.....months. lol. Here is a VERY brief overview/breakdown of why....

Dad: My dad has had MAJOR spinal problems for 30+ years. Each surgery has made things worse. He had his 6th major spinal surgery 3 weeks ago, and his 7th is scheduled for 6 weeks from now. He is in MAJOR pain (always in, but this is worse.) He is on the verge of quadreplegia (sp?). He is MASSIVELY depressed and suicidal. He can no longer do ANYTHING for himself outside of basic life. (He can eat, shower, go to the bathroom, etc.) He needs help getting dressed, can no longer drive, has a lifetime weight restriction of 10 lbs, etc. Seeing my father BAWL his eyes out almost everyday is heartbreaking.

Mom: My mom has been dealing with fibromyalgia for about a decade. In the past few years, her meemory has been getting weaker. She was diagnosed a few months ago with Advanced Early-Onset Alzheimer's. (She is 52 years old.) She has no short term memory. She is incredibly depressed because she's "gotten stupid." She cries almost daily as well.

Alison (older sister): My older sister has been very stressed and exhausted lately, in helping care for my parents. She finally broke down and saw a doc...and was diagnosed with Lupus. Yup...Lupus. (In addition to another MAJOR stressor in her/our life that I'm not at liberty to discuss.)

Me: I'm STILL dealing with daily migraines...going on 14 years now. I've tried EVERYTHING!
So far here's the list of what I've tried:
- 5 Family Practice doctors
- 2 neurologists
- Otolaryngologist
- Allergy specialist
- Neurosurgeon
- Physiatrist
- Massage therapist
- Chiropractor
- Optometry
- Trigger Point INjections (WAY painful!!!)
- Maxalt
- Imitrex
- Blood Pressure Meds
- Diet (removing EVERY possible trigger...onion, tomato, cheese, caffeine, MSG, nitrates, nitrites, Aspartame, etc)
- Amitripyline
- Excedrine and excedrine migraine
- Every allergy pill on the market
- Lyrica
- Topamax
- Cat Scans, MRI's, x-rays
- tested for just about EVERY disorder.
- I'm sure there's more...but today's headache is preventing my from remembering.

I'm also still dealing with chronic head-to-toe hives from last July. I test negative for every allergen (both scratch test and injection testing.)
I have been on every allergy pill... including up to 11 a day. And Prednisone for 9 weeks.
Now I'm on Dapsone (which is a Leprosy antibiotic.) It helps a bit, but not completely, and not when I'm majorly stressing. It also depletes my red blood cells.... so I have to have blood work every month to make sure they are at an acceptable level.

So.... yeah. Life has been STRESSFUL!

Wow! That is ALOT to be dealing with! My heart goes out to you and your family....God bless you all. Please stay strong the best way you can. God will continue to uphold you. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I understand Prednisone also messes with the immune system.....what about alternative medicine? Some doctors practice alternative/holistic ways to balance to the body, maybe it might be something to look into?

Stumbled across your blog. You are so strong! Life is stressful. I am sorry you are dealing with so much. Just take it a day at a time. I don't know how much you can try to fix. I went through/am still going through similar stressors and realizing that there are things you can't control really does feel better. I did battle a little with anorexia as a teenager ("to feel in control" was doctor's explanation). Now, I try to take control by being healthy :). It looks like you do the same. You also look absolutely amazing. You could be a fitness model!
I hope things get better for you and your family. Just take it a day at a time. Sending you emoticon
