Week 3 Re-Cap

Friday, June 01, 2012

QEII meets Marilyn Monroe in London, 1956. They were both 30 years old.

Happy Friday, Sparkies!

Happy...Birthday...to...youu
uuuuuuuuuuu.....Today would have been Norma Jean's 86th Birthday. Also, it is a big weekend in GB & it's Commonwealth as QEII Diamond Jubilee celebrations continue. Two incredible people who have paved the way for women all over the world. Just thought I'd share. :)

On to the order of business: Finished up Couch to 5K Week 3 this week. Rode my bike a few times with the family, too. Wow! I didn't think I could make it this far. Not gonna lie - this week was HARDER than heck, but I did it. My extra run/walks last week kinda put a strain on my knees, so I ended up resting more this week...one day at a time. Sometimes it's one second at a time for me. :( Nutrition has been "sketchy," but I have been eating more fruits & vegetables this week. My water intake has increased, too.

Running has proven to be something that I really enjoy. It's such a sense of accomplishment to have the will to push forward even though my body wants to quit. But, I also realize that rest days are just as important as work out days. I have to remind myself very often that sometimes doing less workouts does more for my body. That all or nothing tape in my head started playing tricks on me, again. But in the end, common sense won, thank goodness! Whew!

On Memorial Day, my daughter ran her first race. It was a 1 mile fun run & she made it in 12.14 minutes! My DH & I are extremely proud of her. She told me after the race that she wanted to "puke,"( LOL! )but after she rested & had water said it was the best feeling crossing the finish line. She inspires me so much to continue being a healthy role model for her. I know I'm not perfect, but I always do my best to be that person for her.

She finished at 12.14 ! Way to go!

This weekend, we are going cabin camping with her girl scout troop. I'm looking forward to all the activities planned , such as hiking, horseback riding, archery & even a shooting range.
Well, I've got to finish packing as we are leaving this evening. Hope everyone has safe & fun-filled weekend. Thank you for the new add's, comments & inspiration this week!

Cheers,

Bee.
