Today is the last school day for my school district, and the graduation ceremony for the students at my school. Since students actually graduate upon completion here, they can graduate any day of the school year. This day is always nice because everyone participating in the ceremony has to come in early for practice, so I get to see students that I may not have seen since August or September.
Today also presents a challenge since it is a VERY long day for the faculty & staff here. We have an early release schedule, so classes in the morning, the decorating for the ceremony tonight, a small amount of down time (of course not enough to go home & get ready), then the ceremony & reception. Faculty & staff serve food & drinks at the reception, so there's even more work. Plus the food itself, which always include my favorite pimento cheese sandwiches and cake with buttercream frosting (which I don't get at home due to family allergies).
It'll be a fun day despite being so long. And I'm grateful that this year it's on a Friday so I have the weekend to recover before coming back to sign out for the summer.
